I'm watching Gotham and wondering what accent Sean Pertwee has.

I'm pretty sure it's not the accent he grew up with as I worked in Teddington for a while and nobody spoke like that there. It sounds a bit East End but not quite right, the 't' sounds are wrong for instance (I lived in East London for about 10 years). Is it maybe a North London accent? Is it something he's made up himself to get hard man roles (if it is he's been very consistent with it, I've never heard him use any other accent)?

I have fancied him for ages, it's something to do with the combination of a very deep, gravelly voice and the occasional echo of his father (my childhood Doctor Who).

Not sure Tim-is it not his normal accent?

I have only seen him in Gotham & dog soldiers-I think he has the same accent in both.

TimTam at last a fellow Sean Pertwee fan.
Isn't he lovely Grin

Not your average Hollywood smooth metro but you'd just love him as your own personal bodyguard type.

I've never heard him use any other accent Angel so in that sense it is his normal accent. It's just that most people's accent comes from their family background or the place that they grew up, or it can change in adulthood (mine does gradually as I move around). He comes from an acting family, had a childhood in Teddington and then went to theatre school at Bristol Old Vic and started acting straight after that. None of which is remotely reflected in the way that he speaks.

I forgive him his affected accent because I fancy him (a lot), who knows the accent may even be a part of why I fancy him, the depth of his voice and his 'bit of rough' attitude are definitely part of it. Blush

He would be a fabulous body guard 70 so long as anybody trying to do me harm was well choreographed to come at him one at a time and fall over at the first hit. Wink Afterwards he would do exactly as I order him to, he would gruffly object but we would both understand that the objections were just for show. Blush

He would make a BRILLIANT Dr Who but he's said he wouldn't do it.

Sad

He's soooooooo like his dad now it's scary. I don't like him that way but he'd be a brilliant bodyguard & drinking buddy. I bet he'd let you share his chips and give you his coat if it was raining.

I think his face is quite like his dad and there has always been a bit of a likeness although more so as he became the age that his dad was when he was Dr Who and Worzel Gummage, but his body language is hugely different. Jon was always quite a twitchy, jerky, constant-movement sort of person whereas Sean has quite an intimidating stillness in his acting.
