I can't wait! We love making things to eat with the show-often what was the best bake the week before! Costs me a fortune in ingredients!

I'm excited. I'm baking today in anticipation (and to use up the manky bananas in the fruit bowl).

Very excited. Rotten baker here (well I can make a good banana cake and a chocolate cake without flour- but that's it), but I adore this programme and get ridiculously into it.

AND Nadiya has her own tv show on as well about visiting Bangladesh - The Chronicles of Nadiya (see what they did there).

I made the mistake of looking at the Daily Mail's coverage of the new series. Quite slanted, shall we say.

daily what's your flourless choc cake recipe?

I can't wait. I LOVE it. Isn't it on late this year, though?

Loving the Guardian article. Have made a note in the calendar, but it's bittersweet as it marks the last week of the holidays for us (teachers in France).

Just checking in, but it will take someone really special to knock Nadiya from her position as my favourite ever winner.

I agree! Remember she made the cake that looked like a can of fizzy soda balancing in mid air, and she made her own flavouring by boiling things down to a syrup. Genius.

She always looked so worried in the early episodes, but by the end, she realised that she deserved to be there.
Loved her!

Walter
This makes a big cake. It freezes very well though so sometimes I chop it in half and freeze half.. Sometimes I just halve the amounts.

Line a loose base cake tin.

200 g dark chocolate (i use Lindt 70%)
200 butter
200 ground almonds
200 caster sugar (i use a lot less though as trying to cut down on sugar)
5 eggs.

Melt chocolate in bowl over pan of hot water
Melt butter in microwave
Stir together, add almonds and leave to cool.

Separate 4 of the 5 eggs. Mix one whole egg and the 4 yolks together with the sugar. Blend this with chocolate mixture.

Whisky the 4 egg whites till stiff and using a metal spoon, fold into the chocolate mix.

Pour into non-stick, lined tin and bake at 170 degrees for 45 mins.

The cake flattens a bit as it cools. It's very rich so I cut it into brownie sized portions. It's also delicious heated up in microwave and served as pud with ice cream or custard.

Marking my place in time for the big return.

Hello Bake Off fans I am Songbird big fan of the show. Fave moments The Great Howard Custard Theft and The I Presented A Cake To Mary Berry In A Dustbin Shame

Even now I'm still agog that he did that

Walter yes it's late this year due to the Olympics broadcast.
GBBO new series usually kicks-off first week in August. I panicked that I had missed the start of it.

Can. Not. Wait Cake

Report
MiddleClassProblem · 17/08/2016 08:46

I do think (and have always thought) that it should start earlier than August as you end up in October when the tent is in the height of summer. I never have really understood why they wait until it's done and dusted before airing. It's a long time for the contestants to stay quiet!

Report
dailymaillazyjournos · 17/08/2016 09:08

I can't understand why it's filmed in time to coincide with any hot weather. It must be so uncomfortable working in there what with all the ovens. Not to mention the issues with their creations in the heat.

I can't work out why I love GBBO as much as I do. I am hopeless (with the exception of above chocolate cake and a banana cake). My friend and I are furiously whatsapping throughout. She's diabetic, so can't even eat cake. Which I think must be like torture! But she is as into it as I am :)
