before my phone decides to give up altogether, here's a new thread to get us on our way.

Andy Murray still in the Olympic Singles, as is Rafa,

Jo Konta through for the women.

Lots of missing names from the top players- but we are edging towards the US open- without Federer- and who knows, maybe even without Djokovic.

Could we be heading for all change at the top?

I tried to post on the previous thread without success, so here we are now. Thanks, Raah.

Definitely not a Djoko fan either (wait! Does it show?!) and I hadn't heard of any marriage trouble.

I thought his problem was the simple, straightforward fact that, in the words of Catherine Whitaker from the Tennis Podast, "things happen". A guy can't go on winning everything all of the time forever.

And he didn't seem to be coping well with that fact.

Barbara - I get that people can't win all the time- but he seems to have gone from winning everything (up to RG, really) to losing his way, in very rapid fashion. It happened with Rafa, but that was on the back of injuries. Other players have been the same. I don't like him much, but I think because of the level at which he was was playing, the sport will be poorer without him.

It's been an odd year, in a way. I don't think Federer's longevity has helped other players- the pressure is now on to play on beyond 30/35- when previously that wasn't the case . Maybe Djok has hit a psychological wall?

And Del Potro is through too- which is great. Thrilled for him.

As for my Djoko theory -- perhaps you're right. I suppose some story or other will surface eventually.

Jane- there is always a reason she loses . pisses me off. Injury/genuine illness is one thing, but with her it is always something that would never have been mentioned if she had won.

But I'm not a Serena fan.

Saw the last set of the Konta match - I love her, especially as she is local to me.

Why do you think Djok won't be playing at the US Open?

magi- he probably will, but it's just the way he has been the last couple of months. Maybe he needs a break. It feels like more than a case of everyone loses occasionally. I don't know- I'm probably talking rubbish (as usual). Or maybe he's just giving Andy a chance to catch up .

hugo if you go to 'find program' on iplayer & type in Olympic tennis they have each days action - you have to have an idea of the date & time of the match.
