Starts tomorrow - anyone planning to watch?

It looks like a new version of Castaway without the heavy-handed interference of the TV crew and without the cosy huts provided.

Friolero Sun 17-Jul-16 19:59:20

Yes I saw the trailers for that and thought it looked good so I'll be watching.

AnneEyhtMeyer Sun 17-Jul-16 20:01:52

It looks like they have learned lessons from Castaway.

They have apparently been away for a few months already.

CrazyDuchess Sun 17-Jul-16 20:03:51

I'm looking forward to it!

EverySongbirdSays Sun 17-Jul-16 20:42:40

They've been away since March. Placemarking as intending to watch. Looks like they are doing it "properly" no letters from home, no dicking about getting "media experience" etc

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard Sun 17-Jul-16 20:48:12

I was intending to defect from BB if necessary. The experiment is for a whole year isn't it? and there's no prize.

That's more like it.

Will report for duty Anne.

AnneEyhtMeyer Sun 17-Jul-16 20:48:59

En - no defecting. You are expected at both.

SoleBizzz Sun 17-Jul-16 21:05:29

Yup I will watch.

ShellyF Sun 17-Jul-16 21:16:48

Me too.

Vixxfacee Sun 17-Jul-16 21:17:22

Place marking smile

darksideofthemooncup Sun 17-Jul-16 21:23:08

I will be watching

ellenanora5 Sun 17-Jul-16 21:45:16

Yep, I'll be giving it a go

AnneEyhtMeyer Sun 17-Jul-16 22:02:33

Oh great, I won't be alone!

So 9pm Channel 4 tomorrow - see you then!

motheroreily Mon 18-Jul-16 07:16:59

I'm in

Must remember to watch. This is where we go on holiday. We were up there at New Year and the locals were talking about it - it's provided a fair bit of work in putting up fencing etc.

Very limited wifi or mobile so limited chance of cheating. They will have been broken in gently. Mild spring and warm early summer and don't think it's been as wet as other parts of Scotland. Long light days this time of year but winters are very dark and can be very harsh.

Are they living off the land totally?

Katinkka Mon 18-Jul-16 12:02:37

I can't wait for this. I LOVED Castaway.

Katinkka Mon 18-Jul-16 12:07:20

Is it only on once a week?

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 18-Jul-16 15:20:42

I don't know how often it is on, I can't find anything about when it is on apart from tonight.

I think they are going to be totally self-sufficient, because apparently they only have what they have carried in. I hope they don't end up like 50000 Years BC, where they constantly had to be given help and food.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard Mon 18-Jul-16 16:18:24

There's a bit of info on the contestants here
www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/2016/07/12/eden-meet-the-contestants-of-channel-4s-wildly-ambitious-reality/

It looks like we can see four episodes to start with
>>>“The idea is that, if people were given the building blocks for their own future, how would they respond? ” explains Channel 4 head of entertainment Liam Humphreys ahead of the broadcast of the first tranche of four episodes, which will be shown weekly from Monday. The filming is ongoing, with the series staggered across several months. “We’re really questioning whether consumerism makes people happy or if it’s like fast-food – it fills you up for a minute but how sustainable is it really?”<<<

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 18-Jul-16 20:39:51

Oh so each Monday for 4 weeks and then a gap? Sounds good. I expect there isn't a lot to fill loads of episodes.

EverySongbirdSays Mon 18-Jul-16 20:59:40

EverySongbirdSays Mon 18-Jul-16 21:01:42

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 18-Jul-16 21:02:13

Oh Song, you should have dried ants or berries, not Maltesers. Get into the spirit of it!
