A fascinating chilling bit of television. Wonder whether this is all for TV or police will re open the enquiry. Anyone else see it ?

I watched it. I'm in two minds about if he's guilty or not. Was interesting to watch

Definitely agreed he was a psychopath. Said that to DH close to the beginning. I found him chilling.

Saying that, there was NO evidence other than circumstantial and opinion offered by the interviewees in the programme that he actually did it.

Yes - you're right. Police have all this I suppose and file is not closed. I suppose they are just waiting for that vital bit of evidence.

Chilling man though.

If the Police had evidence, ehy wasn't the case reopened after the bridgewater 4 were released? (maybe It was and I missed that bit?) Didnt one of them cough to the murder initially? Why?

It seems to me that conclusive evidence isn't there, so whether he did it or not, without a confession (unlikely!) he will remain free.

I've read he wrote his memoirs whilst in prison, but for some unknown reason they were later found in a skip by some guy who co wrote his book
Seems bizarre

I'm on +1 and just watching the end. He terrified me! I love the interviewer - intelligence is very, very attractive.

There is a docu-drama on youtube about the case. It explains what happened to the bridgewater 4.

I thought the thing about him feeling emotional and getting his hanky seemed very false. A very unsettling, chilling man.

The interviewer was excellent.

I felt as though any minute Bert could fly into a rage - he was chilling and menacing.

I hope the police will be able to investigate further.

it just boiled down to ' criminal lies about stuff'

that was it really

But JackandDiane it wasn't a movie, a drama or a soap - it's real life and a little boy died because some psychopath shot him in the face. I'm sure the purpose of the programme was to inform - it wasn't meant to be exciting or entertaining.

but wasnt even revealing, was it?

I don't know, I'm not even sure what the purpose of it was...Bert requested it 'to clear his name' I think but to me it almost looked like an arrogant confession because it certainly didn't make him look good.

Hadn't he just written a book?

I didn't like him as soon as he was waving the interviewer in from the street and putting on this grand tour of his house, hideous forced chuckling which sounded really disconcerting.
The way he one minute would be passive and listening and in a split second would be verbally aggressive and hateful.
And covering something up, regardless of the true outcome, he hasn't been 100% truthful. The friend he admitted to murdering and him, he knew far more than he was letting on.
Him saying he isn't sure what he did for lunch that day, if he had lunch or not, that would be ingrained in your memory after years of telling the same story wouldn't it?

Well being honest, I think he did it but as he well knows, there has been no solid proof as yet. Where did that record of his day at work disappear to?

Professor David Wilson is my idol and does my absolute dream job. Will watch anything by him.

It was good, a bit too long I think. I think he did it and he was definitely psychopathic. He just changed the instant something was said he didn't like. I also think he killed his friend because of the Carl Bridgewater murder as well. Possibly both involved and Bert wanted to shut him up. He never did state why he killed his friend did he?

He was on that programme where they took naughty teenage boys and tried to make them behave. Forgotten what it was called.
