I do have some problems with the Jamie of the books, and more so as they go on - Geneva, etc. - and obviously the SH embodiment of Jamie is verra fine indeed. I do enjoy the opportunity to see more of his character laid out as I read, though.

I couldn't hold a grudge for the Geneva thing. He had no choice and he was very clear he didn't love her. Once he was in it, I thought he behaved a little selfishly (and why not?) but mostly really sweetly towards her. She was a little so and so and totally used him and maybe he used her a little, too, to feel a little less lonely. Again why not. He was never going to see Claire again, remember? And his existence was mostly miserable.

Can I out myself as more interested in Roger than Jamie after about halfway through Voyager.

Are we going full on spoilers, coz there is so much I want to discuss about the later books.

As for Geneva, yes she was a little madam, but imagine what Jamie would have done, if someone had done that to Bree (ahem!). My problem is with the writing and DG's characterisation plus she's uses tired old tropes such as the jealous, bitchy female rival (Laoghaire).

There were ways of writing that scene with Geneva that didn't include Jamie basically raping her and I very much hope if they do S3, that they'll do it a different way.

pixie me too! Found Roger so much interesting as a 'modern' character transported back to an age where 'manliness' is proven by how good you are at fighting. Also Jamie was awful to him. And Brianna is a whiny, whinging pain in the arse.

I feel like I need to know more about Roger - I haven't got much of a sense of him yet, so am still pretty much hung up on the one the tv writers of Outlander have apparently christened 'The King of Men'.

Does anyone read Lee Child? It's like Jack Reacher: 'Men want to be him. Women want to be with him'. And actually SH would make a very fine Jack Reacher should the studios come to their senses and fire Tom Cruise.

im 1/4 into voyager so this is going to be tricky were all going to be at different parts of the story!

I hated the avete where Frank suckles Claire's breasts. HATED.

As I said on T'other thread, I don't have much loyalty to the books, and I suspect the love of Roger is strongly influenced by the casting of Rick Rankin who I find enormously attractive.

The series has (IMO) created a much better Claire than the books (I can't imagine they would have got a lot of interest otherwise), so hopefully they'll do the same to Bree who is annoying and whiney and irritating and in no way worthy of Roger

Agree about Claire also. Find book Claire intensely smug and irritating. Have got to a bit in The Fiery Cross where she's doing penicillin experiments in her 'surgery.' I mean ffs

We all knew the Faith episode was going to be hard, but I'm dreading if they cover the death of Rupert like the book. I cried buckets at that.

I wonder how or even if they'll kill Murtagh off. I hope he survives tbh. He's become such a big part of the series, I'll be sad to see him go. In fact, I'll be devastated to see most of the Scottish lot go.

Yeah, I think I would have used my time travelling powers a bit more wisely. Instead of some convuluted plot to fake smallpox infected wine of a possible financial backer of Bonnie Prince Charlie, I'd have probably built a big boat (a bit like Noah's Ark except for Scots instead of animals) and rounded up everyone I cared about and sailed off to a safe place til the war was over

I know my idea was ridiculous but a lot of the Outlander plots don't make sense of you think too hard about them.

I hope they do the scene with Geneva better than the book too. I can't see the lovely Jamie in the tv series carrying on like the book version did.
AKA Yes that scene where he drank her milk was awful.
I'm just over half way through Voyager and wish they would just stay in one place for some time. But still loving it.

My guess is that they're going to place murtagh in rupert's place at culloden for maximum emotional wrenching :(

(I can't remember murtagh dying in the books at all. I must hav obviously skimmed a bit too hard)

aka I can't remember it either. I think he died in battle so it may have been a flashback in Voyager? You might be right about switching him with Rupert in the tv series.

God, I hope they don't kill him off though.
