I started watching the affair and fortitude a while ago but couldn't get into either, are they worth persevering for the first few episodes?

I always think I don't like sci fi but enjoy it when dh makes me watch some

I wouldn't persevere with Fortitude if you didn't get into it but the affair gets better and better. Also have just started watching the five which is good.
