If I loved The Good Wife...

I'm desperately searching for a boxset to buy for a ridiculously long plane journey.

I loved News Room, The Good Wife, Making a Murderer, Elementary, The Following, How to Get Away With Murder- anything that has crime/law and interesting scripts or narrative structures.

I am buying it from iTunes, I've tried to watch The Wire and The West Wing, but sadly think they've dated and wish that I had watched them at the time.

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!

Madame Secretary?

It isn't as good as The West Wing but is really good and very topical. (Some stories relate to a plane crash though so might not be the best choice if you are a nervous flyer!)

I think you'll like Scandal. I think it's the same writer or producer as HTGAWM.

And Nashville, it's not crime/law but it's one of my favourites along with the newsroom and the good wife.

I quit like madam secretary
Couldn't get on with the 'how to get away with murder'
Quite liked Suits but got fed up with how the women dressed as if they were off to cocktails parties with their boobs hanging out of skin tight outfits.
The West wing was AWESOME - was planning to re-watch at some point, sorry to hear it has dated.
Love Elementary.
Blue Bloods is ok if you don't mind being morally uplifted by how damn GOOD they are.

Nothing compares to the good wife though - best programme on tv IMO.
What is Ray Donovan?

I also like good wife, really enjoyed Castle - lots of seasons available. Older seasons better imo.

Also NCIS or CSI are good to pass a few hours.

I'm enjoying The Affair at the moment. Not legal/crime but well acted and a bit if a mystery in the background. There are two seasons but I'm only just getting near the end of the first one so can't comment on how it progresses.

Also follow the Good Wife, NCIS, HTGAWM, SVU, and a few of the action series like Strike Back, currently watching the Honorable Woman, don't know if you can download that from anywhere. A little slow but I find it intriguing.

Oh fantastic! What a great list for me to start on!

I love The Affair and Suits- so that bodes well for many of your other suggestions!

Is it worth paying for Good Wife Season 7? How long do we think it will take to get to Netflix? Some episodes are on 4OD, but not the start.

I think I'll give Scandal a try!

Thanks again!

I love TGW, I'm watching House MD, at the moment and enjoying it. There's something like 122 episodes, so huge amount of time to cover.

luds I also love House! You'll really enjoy it. I was most pleased when Cuddy popped up in TGW!

Murder One? I've not heard of that. I shall Google.

I've also watched an inordinate amount of Law and Order. I basically just love American Crime TV 😂

House of Cards? V good.

Think only House of Cards and Affair are a patch on Good Wife. Others far-fetched, poorly scripted etc etc. Wish rhere were many more series of the calibre of GW. And of such consistent quality and with strong, believable female characters. Which is shockingly rare!

Scary Sorry, I missed you'd seen House. I've had to go back to see where Cuddy had been in TGW, I didn't even realise as I've watched them the wrong way round. I'm just looking forward to Jason Crouse turning up in The Walking Dead.

I'm really enjoying House of Cards- but as I have Netflix I will wait until I'm home to watch it and use my money to buy something I wouldn't be able to get on Netflix.

Female characters in TGW are off the scale good. So refreshing to see a mix of personalities that aren't all focused on men/children and that have plots that centre around them, rather than providing the decoration for male centric plots.
