Tonight's episode - I got very confused when Adam was talking about people beating his mummy. What did he mean?

Yes, did he mean the woman who died in the last series or does he now see the other woman (name?) as his mummy? And why is Alison's arse husband treating her so badly in front of everyone? Loved her smashing the plate on his head but risky as it could really cause bad injury

I think Adam meant he had flashbacks to his mum being badly treated (series 1) and that is why he reacted so strongly to Hawthorne trying to rape Leena.

Reggie has never been in it, Cynthia has always referred to him as her dead old late husband. So it turns out he shagged Ralph's mum and is actually Ralph's real dad.

Jaya (?) was Adam's mother and yes was badly treated by all including Cynthia. He sees Leena as a mother figure.

Anyone watched series 1 recently - does what happened to Ralph's parents come up? Was he adopted by both Whelans perhaps? Would make his, er, "interest" in his sister less nasty.

But even if cynthia is ralph's mum, somehow, why would they have a photo of dad and mistress that he thought was his mum? was ralph in the photo?

Perhaps the person in the photo is a young Cynthia - I don't know how old Ralph was when Mrs Whelan died. You know how Cynthia only softened towards Alice when she said her nobface husband was trying to make her son hate her? So if she is Ralph's birth mother, and Reggie turned Ralph against her, then took Ralph away from her and gave him to the Whelans to raise. If Ralph was just given that photo and told "that's your mother" he might have assumed the photo was of Mrs Whelan, if she'd died before he could remember her IRL.

Yeah, I'm clutching at straws but I'm figuring there has to be some reason why Cynthia went from getting Kaiser to rub vinegar into the burnt guy to suddenly tossing him off
