What should I be watching - British crime drama

Just in the room with the TV on and Shetland has come on, don't know much about it but after a couple of months of solid American reality TV Blush it has re-ignited my need for some sort of BBC domestic crime drama. Something like Broadchurch, the fall, or the one with James Nesbitt/missing son that was on last year. Is Shetland worth starting from the beginning? Or Doctor Foster? We've been meaning to get round to Luther but don't want something with loads of episodes that would require serious binge-watching commitment.

It's really only Shetland and Happy Valley I watch. I might try Luther too. Shetland is really good.

Shetland -yes.
Luther worth the binge watching commitment but don't bother with the last 2 part series.
Happy Valley - Oh yes.
Vera- if only for Brenda Blethyn's gentle dysfunction and the 'geordie' accents.
Endeavour - yes
Not domestic domestic - but Lucky Man is turning out to be a watcher.
Missed Dr Foster so am hoping there will be a re run sometime soon.

Luther is good but a little silly.
Happy Valley is bloody brilliant, but I think it helps to have watched the first series before starting the second.
The Fall is also good, Gillian Anderson is superb in it.
Ripper Street is excellent- a kind of historical detective series and the birth of forensics.

I agree that The Fall is good though the pace of the second series is slow compared to series 1.

I'm enjoying The Affair (US series but with British actors) and try and see Dr Foster, that's a good series.

I'm enjoying Lucky Man as well. Nice & pacey, interesting story so far.

If you're after something on DVD - 'No Offence' on last year was brilliant.

Yes to Luther and The Fall. I enjoyed The Killing (US version) but it wasn't as gripping as Broadchurch or The Fall.

Haven't seen Shetland yet, but I must get around to it.
I may steal all of these suggestions Grin
