Last Stephen Moffatt series will run in Spring 2017, then Chris Chibnall (Broadchurch, Torchwood] will take over for 2018.
According to the BBC Moffat's last series will be a 'big event' and there's 'too much going on in 2016 (Olympics and Euros)'

The Moffatt- haters will be happy, the rest of us will be waiting to see what Chibnall can do...

Hmm, this 'too much going on in 2016' story sounds like pure bullshit to me. Not everyone in the UK loves watching sport. Must be something else going on.

Dds will be gutted at no new series till next year .

I quite like Moffat, ok he over complicates things sometimes but he's presided over some cracking storylines.
I suspect that PC will leave with Moffat - break in a new companion for one series then they'll have a complete change all round.

I wonder if they're struggling to find a companion to follow Clara? Love her or not she's a tough act to follow.
The Last Christmas special wasn't great but it was worth it for the last 10 minutes when she realised who he was. Finally she didn't look like she was babysitting her own husband

I wonder if Moffat has something else on? Sherlock is filming isn't it, maybe he's started on something else? Or PC isn't free at the right time?

I think Sherlock will be filming this year as the next series is due January 2017.
