Just marking my place.

mooj I'll help anyone out and I guess all of us would really but it really narks me that his two daughters never come to help him out. He likes my gammon with the redcurrant jelly sauce (pixie, you made that, didn't you?) and one of his daughters (clever so and so, knows everything about everything) just commented when he told her how much he liked it "Well I hope it was an organic ham she bought!" Cheeky cow, she never comes round with any food for him anyway.

Onlygirljen · 03/01/2016 20:17

Oh ilove she sounds like a complete cow delightful! Confused. You'll probably know this if you've been a PoA for your mum, but you are entitled to withdraw if you don't feel comfortable with the arrangement.

On another note - Is anybody else wondering what on earth is happening with the casting announcement? Do we still know for sure that filming starts this month?

Would think they'd have to be out there soonish, whoever they may be

I did know that Jen but the problem as I understood it was that it would have then cost my neighbour more money (due to the fact I didn't respond in the time stated because I hadn't seen the letter). Does it go to the Office of Care and Protection - forgive me if I've not remembered that correctly? The solicitor reckoned I would have to appeal to them, then it would have to be rewritten and cost him more in the long run. I couldn't do that to him, he doesn't seem to have much spare cash. Have I got that right?

If the two daughters fleece him for money at some stage, I don't think I would genuinely want to intervene. At the moment, he's still of sound mind (apart from being stupid over his chest infection).

Sean Ward needs to get himself out to South Africa away from Georgia! Very glad she didn't win Strictly if she's done this to him!!

They sound lovely ilove. Mum has friend (late 60's) and one of her sons always gives out to her for spending money. He complained to her once about buying a new kettle!! My mum always says he's only bothered about her spending his inheritance - I tell my mum to spend and enjoy what money she has!!

Boys in bed but no sign of sleeping yet!

I'm going to attempt to watch it, although I keep nodding off! Let's hope JN keeps me awake!

I've had to rewind it a bit, so many lines of plot already. Confused

Update on neighbour: spotted the emergency doctor arriving so flew round and told him I was the one who had rung and that my neighbour wanted me to be there. He didn't have the most engaging of bedside manners but he's given him an inhaler (he already has one apparently but this must be stronger), 2 sets of antibiotics and a set of steroids - he has to take 6 of those tablets at a time! I told the doctor I felt a bit interfering but after discovering the number of tablets, I know he must be quite poorly. After the doctor had gone, I shouted at my neighbour and told him it was time he got his daughters involved. "I don't like to bother them and I don't want them to know I'm not well" which made me shout even more. I did refrain from saying they were lazy b*ggers who were only interested in his money! I said it was time they brought him some meals along but his answer to that was that one couldn't afford it and the other made food he didn't like!

I'd never make a good nurse, I'm far too impatient! However, this was a good result I think.

Missed the first 20 mins of War and Peace and not really sure I'm in the mood now.

What I intended doing over the Christmas holidays:

Clean the oven (no)
Tidy my wardrobe (no)
Clean the greenhouse (yes)
Sewing jobs (not one single one)
Catch up on ff (yes, lots)
Meet MN friends in Manchester (yes)
Promise not to buy any new clothes in the sale (promise broken)
Clean the kitchen properly (done half-heartedly)
Lots of walks and cycle rides (a couple of walks but too wet for much)

How did everyone else fare over Christmas?

Just watched War and Peace albeit a couple of minutes behind, DD wouldn't go to bed. It was pretty good I though. Fab set pieces and JN and Lily James characters will be great to see on screen together.

I wonder if your neighbour was given the same liquid steroids that my boys get when they're chesty. 6 is probably the right number with him being an adult. I hope his daughters get their backsides into gear and help.

I'm chuckling at the thought of MrP sitting with the road map pix while Outlanders on. Sounds like Scotland's the place to be this summer. I might take a trip and have a wander over some fells and see if I can find a real life Jamie complete with kilt. Smile

Happy New Year Wycombe. Hope you had a good one.

pixie and Maddie if you are passing through Lancashire en route to your holiday destination, feel free to call in for coffee (not Rosabaya sorry) and cake.

Kelly these looked like tiny red smarties. I was amazed he had to take so many.

My friend across the road (of the rubbish Christmas presents fame) said she thought I ought to ring one of his daughters. I found her number in the book and have considered it but know I would go off on one so would probably be better doing it tomorrow when I feel calmer about it all. I will see what he says when I go round tomorrow night when I am back from work.

Having seen CJ in a kilt when he was on tour and I took him up to Edinburgh, I can confirm he looks mighty fine dressed in one. Richtea and orphan did the measuring for it of course. He was surrounded by hordes of little Japanese ladies who all wanted their photo taking with him. Presumably nobody would complain if CJ came along on holiday with any Scotland-bound MNetters?

Talking of his tour, are we going to do another one for him this year - or dp we wait to see if he is going out to South Africa?

I don't think that was the name but I wouldn't swear to it - I'll go in tomorrow night and have a look.

Off to bed now.

ilove I think the PoA rules are different in England - it's relatively simple up here, as i remember my mum withdrawing from one a few years ago without much hassle.

I am loving the chat of all the potential Scotland visits - everybody come at the one time and whaj and I can show you the sights!!! Unfortunately there's not too many Jamie Fraser specimens lurking around trust me I've looked Grin but I'm sure we would have fun regardless!

Good luck to all of you back to work. It's a bank holiday here tomorrow and schools are back midweek - can't believe how quickly the break has passed.

Have a good day everyone.
