OITNB end of series 3

How can they end it like that ARG!

Right, now that is out of my system, what does everyone think?

I think Bennett disappeared to distance himself from Daya and the prison knowing that the baby would end up with Cesar then tipped off the DEA so that he can somehow get custody/guardianship of the baby without admitting he is the father. Or at least I hope that is what has happened, I was feeling way too worried about the baby so had to convince myself.

I was pleased to see the start of the friendship between Poussey and Soso. Poussey is such a brilliant character and Soso has been annoying and pathetic for far too long.

Lauren needs her comeuppance though, even with the back story I couldn't empathise with her.

I have enjoyed Pennsatucky's story this series, well, not enjoyed as I felt awful for her but seeing a bit of her back story and her development made her much more likeable. I think Boo taking her under her wing was great.

There were so many other brilliant storylines this series, I think it trumped series 2 easily. I like Piper being less wet too, although I'm sure she's got something coming to her.

So what do you all think? What happened to Alex? How on earth are the new rubbish guards going to get everyone back in? Will Caputo really sell out completely?

I just watched the last episode - not happy with that ending!

The series was good and definitely agree it's better now Piper has grown some balls. Alex must be dead?

So now we are going to have to wait probably another year for the next series.

I can't wait to see the inmates' reactions when they find out about their new roomies.

Loved the boo and pensatucky storyline, has been the most engaging for me. Piper has just become so cardboard, did not buy her relationship with the ruby Rose woman, not helped by the fact that ruby Rose can't act!!

Preferred this series to series 2 - darker humour and more sideliners coming into their own.

Loved it. I want Poussey to find love. I think Alex is alive and agree with you about Bennett. But poor Sophia Sad how long is she going to be in the Shu?

Who is Lauren?

Agree love love Poussey and loved the Boo and Pensatucky storyline although very upsetting seeing Pensatucky not even seeing it as rape.

I'm not sure about the Red and Healy thing. In season one he was fucking evil and twisted.

I love Lorna as well,

Piper is so annoying and really not likable. Do you think they mean for her to be so unlikable? Ruby Rose can't act. I didn't get the point of her role at all.

I loved the Boo/Pensatucky relationship. Leanne is awful. There were too many flashbacks for me, it sort of feels like it's running out of steam and its run its course. I never found the Daya story very convincing. I we supposed to believe that her and Bennet were really in love. her character is so boring.

ClaireFontaine · 03/07/2015 19:40

Oh there's something about Daya that I love. Maybe it's her voice. Although I agree that I'm not sure about their love story, there didn't seem to be many in love moments.

I really don't know what the deal was with Bennett leaving. Was t because he saw what an awful family he was 'marrying' into after the gun threat to the son? Surely that would make you even more adamant to take care of your child and keep her away from them? Also were we supposed to feel glad Daya didn't give her baby away? I have to say I didn't at all.

I don't know about the Bennett thing...

I keep hoping he's gone off somewhere to get himself sorted with a home and a well paid job so he can come back and save the baby from a life in care. I think visiting the family spurred him into thinking 'not for my child' but I can't see why he'd not communicate that with Daya.

I agree Piper seemed to fade into the background for this series and I was actually pleased about that!

Ruby Rose is an awful actress.

I thought the baby would be crushed during the fight, I was terrified for her. Does she have a name? I think that might be significant.

Love love Poussey and Black Cindy. Her slavery/ Hitler references are hilariously inappropriate. Also love Fig/ Caputo Blush

Piper must be getting out soon, hmmm.

Yeah the red and Healy storyline was terrible! He's a horrible man, were we meant to think it was romantic?! Odd.

I think piper will have her sentence extended due to discovery of the knickers fiasco.

Oh cheesymonster, I think you are right! That whole plot line did seem engineered.

is there some rule that Piper has to stay in the programme?!

I loved it all apart from the Norma storyline - that seemed a bit ridiculous and dragged on

Maybe feezap, the real life Piper Kerman is an executive consultant.

I'm having withdrawal symptoms and I may have to watch the whole lot from the start again!

I loved it - I cried at the end, so touching.

I really enjoyed the Pensatucky/Boo friendship - really loved Boo this series, warm, compassionate and funny. I also LOVED Cindy's conversion and Tastee becoming the mother of the group.

Piper was weird all season I thought, the relationship between her and Ruby Rose (I don't even remember what her character's name was Confused) was rushed and...weird. Just weird. One minute pipes was all about Alex, and the next she was giving the cow eyes at RR. Just didn't feel authentic.

Other than that I loved this series. Loved.

Bennetts disappearance - very unsatisfactory. Not sure where they are going with that, but I hope he gets custody of the baby eventually.

Pensatucky is one of my favourite characters and I love how she has developed this series. Also good to see Boo become something other than the one dimensional butch lesbian.

I have always found Piper immensely irritating and this just got worse this series. Don't find the relationships with Alex or the new girl remotely convincing. Reckon she would go straight back to Larry or equivalent after prison.

As for Red and Healy -I think at first she was playing him for advantage, but maybe it actually developed into genuine feelings.

I loved the last scene in the lake - but it wouldve been good to know what happened to Alex, even just a cutaway shot of her feet lying on the ground...

Just working my way through series 3 now. I am stupid to have binge watched it as I will probably have to wait another year for S4, but it's so compelling- what else can you do?

It's great to come across a female run show with a mainly female cast that deals with female issues and manages to sidestep the crappy done to death hunt for Mr Right. There are a million stories behind being a woman and OITNB really captures that.

There have been too many male dominated dramas to count over the years. If I was Queen of the World I would give Jenji Kohan a Damehood.

I mostly loved it. I actually thought the ending was fab. I loved seeing them all "be real" with each other. Mental health issues and rape both dealt with very sensitively imo. Some chars really developing as well. However:

If Bennett has made a plan to get that kid out of there I will cry! The theory above is mine as well. No way could he tell Daya because "family" is everything to them, even when the family are criminals.

Piper I detest. I believe the first season is based on the book/reality but since then it's been free reign into speculation terratory (possibly small amounts taken from piper herself) I always find it wierd that the person whose life it's based on and who still has producer credits is "character I most want to bitch slap/kill off". It's not even a close competition!

Worst season so far, 2 was my favourite! Still, didn't dislike season 3, just think that the story hasn't progressed enough.

Also Piper Kerman served 18 months-ish. Piper has done about 9 so far. Still 3 seasons to go! Wouldn't be surprised if the extended the sentence though.

I just did a Netflix survey about OITNB and which characters/plots I liked best. I felt so sorry for the actors who will no doubt compare scores and find out who everyone hates most (Piper, let's be honest).

I loved Cindy's conversion storyline, Poussey's back story and also Amish Meth Girl (name escapes me). Boo and Pensatucky also excellent. It was great to see Maria in the flashback as well.

I was sorry to see Bennett go so abruptly (both he and Fig buggered off to the cast of How to Get Away With Murder ) and later Nicky - all rather uneven. I was hoping Daya and Bennett could be happy, I don't know what they had planned before the actor got lured away. I could just imagine how appalled he was at the idea of the baby living for any amount of time with Cesar.

The Alex storyline didn't really make sense and seem to have been contrived to get her in and out of the story (again, presumably around other commitments). Why would she give evidence against Thingummy and then spend the rest of her life terrified he was coming after her? Wasn't it entirely obvious that that would be the consequence of doing it? Why wouldn't she go into witness protection?

Great to see a show, any show but particularly a show about women, looking to focus on issues beyond relationships and the very superficial. I loved Tastee and Poussey's conversations about literature (before they lost all the books in the bug infestation). Felt a real sense of claustrophobia at the end when the bunks were being put in.

I agree about claustrophobia. Can you imagine? Send shivers down my spine.

Yay a OItNB thread Grin

Agree with OP about Bennett orchestrating the raid on cesar and disappearing so he can someone manage to get the baby .

Also thought the guard/pensatucky/boo storyline was brilliant . Very well done loved pensatuckys backstory as well .

Totally hated piper this year . Her worn underwear business was just ridiculous and far fetched . I found her very annoying .

Tbh I wasn't really keen on this season . Apart from the pennsatucky storyline I felt like nothing much really happened .
