I'm not feeling Will Mellor in anything but the blonde woman is great. What's she been in before? Its driving me mad.

I'm loving Joanna Scanlon so far. She's chewing up the scenery. I didn't ever watch Shameless, but I like this. I was coming on to see if there was a thread or to start one.

She was in that deadpan nursing sitcom on BBC2 about the geriatric ward with Jo Brand.

Yes dust that's the one! She was brilliant in that, it was a wonderful sitcom. She's so fantastic in this.

I enjoyed that! Will be setting series link for future weeks.

Jo Scanlon was in a period drama (film) recently but I can't remember which one. It's possible she was playing Queen Victoria.

She was in the thick of it. That is where I recognise her from. I loved no offence....

I really enjoyed it, I'd been looking forward to it from the endless adverts & thought it lived up to expectations!

A couple of laugh out loud bits & some familiar faces....

Looking forward to seeing the rest.

Loved it. Couldn't quite understand the plot though.

Also enjoyed spotting the many parallels with Scott and Bailey and Happy Valley.

Mouthy promoted female northern coppers seem to be all the rage :)

Loved it!! The opening bit was just ace! A really good story & the cast act their socks off especially the blonde cop boss. I'm really looking forward to next weeks episode.

Couldn't face watching it after being subjected to the trailer endlessly these past few weeks.

I may try and brave it on catchup.

The Guardian, The Independent and The Telegraph have all given it raves.

Paul Abbot pulls another blinder- so well written.

I loved it! I was a bit Hmm at her calling the girl with Down Syndrome a 'Mong' though.

Report
TheWordFactory · 06/05/2015 14:17

I think PA faced an interesting choice there.

He could have made all references correct and described people with DS not 'a downs girl' and certainly not 'mong'. But that would almost certainly have been in authentic.

I think I'm probably more sensitive as I have a very good friend who has a child with DS. I've been hand wringing over recommending it to her because of this!

I thought it was absolute rot.

Really? There us a police force somewhere that operates like this?

But I LOVED it and will enjoy watching it every week!

I enjoyed it but couldn't make head nor tail of what was going on most of the time. Found the bit where they all met in the toilet a bit of a cliche and unrealistic. Also thought they seemed to be racing through the storyline very quickly.

But otherwise it was entertaining. Will watch next week.

The daft nervy one that got promoted saying she'd put a tampon in for the meeting even though she wasn't on made me laugh.
