From the makers of shameless, its very good so far.

AnyFucker Tue 05-May-15 21:28:01

not feeling it, tbh

gaggiagirl Tue 05-May-15 21:33:45

I'm not feeling Will Mellor in anything but the blonde woman is great. What's she been in before? Its driving me mad.

DustBunnyFarmer Tue 05-May-15 21:35:45

I'm loving Joanna Scanlon so far. She's chewing up the scenery. I didn't ever watch Shameless, but I like this. I was coming on to see if there was a thread or to start one.

DustBunnyFarmer Tue 05-May-15 21:37:05

She was in that deadpan nursing sitcom on BBC2 about the geriatric ward with Jo Brand.

gaggiagirl Tue 05-May-15 21:53:47

Yes dust that's the one! She was brilliant in that, it was a wonderful sitcom. She's so fantastic in this.

DustBunnyFarmer Tue 05-May-15 22:01:20

I enjoyed that! Will be setting series link for future weeks.

DustBunnyFarmer Tue 05-May-15 22:02:42

Jo Scanlon was in a period drama (film) recently but I can't remember which one. It's possible she was playing Queen Victoria.

gaggiagirl Tue 05-May-15 22:31:46

Bet she was great in it. Cant wait for next week now.

nowwearefour Tue 05-May-15 22:35:38

She was in the thick of it. That is where I recognise her from. I loved no offence....

IKnowIAmButWhatAreYou Tue 05-May-15 22:58:42

I really enjoyed it, I'd been looking forward to it from the endless adverts & thought it lived up to expectations!

A couple of laugh out loud bits & some familiar faces....

Looking forward to seeing the rest.

MorrisZapp Tue 05-May-15 23:02:27

Loved it. Couldn't quite understand the plot though.

Also enjoyed spotting the many parallels with Scott and Bailey and Happy Valley.

Mouthy promoted female northern coppers seem to be all the rage smile

Loved it!! The opening bit was just ace! A really good story & the cast act their socks off especially the blonde cop boss. I'm really looking forward to next weeks episode.

dannydyerismydad Wed 06-May-15 10:05:50

Couldn't face watching it after being subjected to the trailer endlessly these past few weeks.

I may try and brave it on catchup.

gaggiagirl Wed 06-May-15 12:25:26

danny you wont regret it! There are some surprising moments.

MorrisZapp Wed 06-May-15 12:47:14

The Guardian, The Independent and The Telegraph have all given it raves.

TheWordFactory Wed 06-May-15 14:03:08

Paul Abbot pulls another blinder- so well written.

TurnOverTheTv Wed 06-May-15 14:11:08

I loved it! I was a bit hmm at her calling the girl with Down Syndrome a 'Mong' though.

TheWordFactory Wed 06-May-15 14:17:06

I think PA faced an interesting choice there.

He could have made all references correct and described people with DS not 'a downs girl' and certainly not 'mong'. But that would almost certainly have been in authentic.

TurnOverTheTv Wed 06-May-15 14:25:38

I think I'm probably more sensitive as I have a very good friend who has a child with DS. I've been hand wringing over recommending it to her because of this!

Footle Wed 06-May-15 14:34:17

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

TurnOverTheTv Wed 06-May-15 14:51:36

I'm obviously over thinking it grin I loved her in In The Thick Of It. She's so fab in this as well

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie Wed 06-May-15 14:54:57

Rear enjoyed this. Bit like a modern day life on mars.

Izzy24 Wed 06-May-15 14:58:39

I thought it was absolute rot.

Really? There us a police force somewhere that operates like this?

But I LOVED it and will enjoy watching it every week!

Rollergirl1 Wed 06-May-15 20:46:09

I enjoyed it but couldn't make head nor tail of what was going on most of the time. Found the bit where they all met in the toilet a bit of a cliche and unrealistic. Also thought they seemed to be racing through the storyline very quickly.

But otherwise it was entertaining. Will watch next week.
