Just seen this advertised as coming up on BBC 4.
I watched the American version with Toni Collette which wasn't brilliant but might give this a go.
Homelands was based on Prisoners of War, another Israeli drama which was very good.

Thanks. Will keep an eye open for this.

I thought the US version was hopeless and gave up after 2 episodes. I just didn't care about any of the characters. I have high hopes of this, originals are usually far better than remakes.

I'm recording it at the moment, two episodes tonight, will watch tomorrow.

Watched it. It's fantastic. Didn't even notice the subtitles it whizzed by.

I thought the American Hostages was rubbish and stopped watching after two episodes but have recorded this in the hope that it might be better. Hatufim (on which Homeland was very loosely based) was also very good.

Haven't watched the US version, but thought this was very good on Sat night.
I also love how watching something with subtitles automatically makes me feel i am very clever Grin

Yes I know what you mean. I can't understand why they are so broke though.

I don't find it bloody at all. Very tense though. I was a nervous wreck after this weeks triple bill!

I just watched the last 2 on i player. This is heartstopping at times.

BTW am I the only one who hopes Adam gets away when it's all over? (Whatever is going on - why does he need another body? Are they only pretending to kill the PM? ) Jonah Lotan is so gorgeous. Mind you Yonatan is quite cute too and I am old enough to be his mother. (I've always had a thing for nice Jewish boys Smile

Watched the US version and gave up after a couple of episodes like most of you. I couldn't bring myself to try again with the original though.

Oh you really should.

The U.S. version tried to makes tv too exciting, we also gave up after a few episodes. Even the credits of this version make it clear it's not about assassinating the prime minister it's about secrets and how they crumble. They've barely touched the murder plot and just things like us only just finding out about his wife in hospital are so much more subtly done in then regional, I think in the remake that was in the first episode or so? I'm loving it and can't wait to see how it ends.

This is terrific and it would appear that certain things are not what they seem. I really can't imagine the US version being anything other than straightforward.

My heart is in my mouth. Not sure I can stand another hour and a bit...

I wonder if Adam is planning to only pretend to kill the pm hence they need another body. But am utterly confused now. Especially as the handyman appears to not be dead either!

Can someone explain the ending please?

Ok, Neta, Adam's wife is the daughter of the prime minister as a result of the rape. the hostage taker with the big hair was her brother. They were part of a cell/secret organisation that Giyola and Moni were in which wanted to kill the PM to bring about politics change. But hairboy and Adam wanted to do it to save Neta. Alex wanted the money and Ella I think was political.

The PM was killed but then brought back to life with some drugs. Or the drug made him seem dead. Adam and the gang had already tested it on the dog.

Yael told the wife and everyone that the PM was dead. The morgue guy then replaced the PMs body with anon corpse 434. The PM was then taken to the safe house where Neta, Sara and Adam are and presumably he is going to be used as a bone marrow donor.

Yael is going to divorce her husband because he was in on the plot partly to pay off (gambling?) debts. And i think the gardener was too.

LouiseBrooks was right in her post basically.

There's a second series to be had here!

Why did Giyola kill Moni? Why was he going to shoot Noa? Why did he threaten to kill Adam? Didn't really understand his bit in this at all!

Would have been a lot easier for Adam and his family to blackmail pm with rape footage to get bone marrow!?!?

Totally gripping tv though. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
