Dexter after Breaking Bad .... do I carry on?

So DH and I have just finished Breaking Bad - and both of us agree it's the best thing we have watched on TV. It was DH's first viewing but my second (I watched it all again with him, and it was almost better the second time).

We are bereft now though, with nothing good to watch, although a few people have recommended Dexter. We watched the first episode of Dexter the other night - and I know you have to give these things time, but really??? Do we invest more time in this show or not? DD tells me it takes a few episodes to get going, but I'm really not feeling it.

Could I please have your feedback if you have watched Breaking Bad AND Dexter, in any order?

I watched Dexter and then BB. In my opinion Dexter is brilliant but I hadn't seen BB at that point.

I watched the first episode of dexter and didn't get it all. I left a few months (and watched a lot of other things in netflix) before I tried again. It took a couple of episodes but then I got hooked. Give it another go...

It took me a while to get into Breaking bad but I did enjoy it. I tried and hated Dexter. Haven't gone back to it.

We love breaking bad. The only things we have loved since are homeland, orange is the new black, American horror story and bates motel (all on netflix). Nothing else (including dexter) has ever come close to breaking bad but those were the most watchable!

I've been watching The Missing. The plot holes are enormous but I'm enjoying season one.

Keep with it. I really enjoyed Dexter and you won't believe how fond you can become of serial killing psychopath until you get to the end of the first series.

hmm not sure whether to go on with Dexter still - it feels kind of plastic, as well as more explicit with the goryness etc.

i am still having withdrawals for bb and it has been a year ish now. we watched dexter after bb and loved dexter BUT still (for us) wasn't a patch on bb. dh has agreed to rewatch bb with me in jan!! really excited and yes, we don't get out much....

I loved Dexter and Breaking Bad, I watched Dexter first and over a much longer period of time. I have watched two series of The Wire and enjoyed it though not as much as Dexter and BB, I found it a bit hard to get into and preferred series 2.

I'm watching Game of Thrones now as sky is showing all 4 series in at the moment and I'm enjoying it. One of my favourite series though was Prison Break which I loved as much as BB and Dexter

Dexter is better than BB,except for the last season. For older shows,The Sopranos,or The Shield are brilliant.

Nothing can compare to Breaking Bad, but I really enjoyed the Wire too.

Dexter seasons 1-4. I'd advise you not to watch further as it is not to the same standard. If you choose to ignore me then at least do not watch the final episode. Seriously.

The Sopranos is excellent. I've just begun Sons of Anarchy which is enjoyable but nothing beats Breaking Bad.

Update: we have watched 2 episodes of Game of Thrones and are finding it promising. It must partly be because it's set in a time and place totally unrelated to Walt and Jesse Pinkman!

Dexter is much better than BB. I though BB was ok, but not great.
SOA, House Of Cards, The Shield and the greatest programme ever The Sopranos all all vastly superior. IMHO
