SPOILERS

DON'T READ IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE FINAL EPISODE.

Okay so the homeless woman is supposed to be the angel of death? I'm a bit confused about that.

Really surprised jax killed himself. I know he had to die but....

I love that Wendy, Nero and the kids were okay. Such an emotional episode I was teary the whole way through. HmmBlush

So many things I didn't get. What with the homeless woman? The blanket? The bread and wine and again at the crash scene? Why did Happy have to get his arm shot, and why did they have to stand as if they were going to kill Jax, if they already knew they weren't going to? Was Jax supposed to look like Jesus when he went into the lorry? And to be honest I've been pretty confused about the whole Marks/Irish etc stuff for weeks, it doesn't help that everyone talks about names and abbreviations that I don't remember. I resigned to not understanding any of that a while ago!

I loved that Tig and Venus were ok and together.

I think the bread and wine were meant to symbolise the angel of death/Jesus.... I don't actually know. Grin I'm confused to. I'm still not sure if that woman was a ghost that only jax ect could see it a real person?

I'm the worst person to ask about all the 'deals' and gun business stuff. DP kept asking me why I even bothered watching. Grin it was so confusing and so intertwined. And I agree all the different names/nicknames don't help.

Happy had to have his arm shot so that the other charter presidents believed that jax had got away. But I don't understand why they voted in favour of him meeting mr mayhem when he'd already decided he was going to kill himself! Why bother? It's not like thy needed to buy time as it all happened on the same day.

Well, that was as good as an ending could be,wasn't it?Smile
I've never paid much attention to the homeless woman before,or the guns 'n' deals(call me shallow),and have loved the relationships. We got Nero's new set-up,Tig and Venus too. Poor Milo, having helped Gemma, kills her son.
I'm not a sadist, but when a member has crossed the club before, they've stripped them of their tattoos. Did they know that Jax was going to kill himself? Also, why were the 20 police vehicles driving at a funereal pace?

I was wondering about the tattoos/if everyone knew he was going to kill himself. Especially as suicide is looked down on. But I suppose if they were going to kill him, the tattoos didn't really matter. I'm still not sure why they needed to vote him in favour of meeting mr mayhem. Although that could have given him 'permission' to kill himself? Sorry I'm rambling here. Grin will he get a sons of anarchy funeral if he's not part of the club anymore?

I'm not completely sure but I think the police were staying back because he had a gun? I'm not sure though. That's the only thing I can think of.

Perfect ending IMO same way his dad died. That woman has been in it from season 1, she was at donnas funeral and pops up when people are gonna die. I cried all through the scene with the police I had an idea he would do that.

They had to vote for Mr Mayhem because it has to be a club decision. Mr Mayhem is death but not suicide, it is the ultimate punishment for the crime Jax committed.

Shooting Happy in the arm was their way of 'proving' to the other chapters that they had tried to carry out the punishment but Jax had fought back and escaped.

The police following at a distance was because of the gun and the fact that he had fired at an officer.

The woman is the ghost of the woman who died in the accident/suicide of Jax's father. As far as I can tell, only Jax could see her, she represented the angel of death to me but that is my opinion.

The bread and blood at the end is symbolic of the bread/wine at communion. Kurt Sutter has a catholic background - Jax sacrificed himself for the good of his family/club. He said that you couldn't be a good club member and a good father.

SadSadSadSadSadSadSad

If only Jax and TAra had escaped from Clay's clutches in series 3.
I felt utterly gutted for Abel and Thomas, no mum, dad or grandparents......

Just watched and very tearful.....great ending for Jax, not sure if Michael Chaklis will agree(truck driver). Blood and bread for communion and absolution.
Will check in later brothers.
RIP Jackson Teller Sad

I am going to miss JaxSad. The young lithe Jax was amazing....
The other characters I loved were Unser, Nero and Chuckie.

I was Xmas Shock when I saw the burnt out club house and remembered the old scenes of debauchery and drinking which used to take placeXmas Grin.

I still miss Opie Sad

Speaking of whom, did anyone else think that Lyla was the most one-dimensional and pointless character ever? It bemused me that everyone claimed to love her when she was never shown to actually do anything much, and she always got a special credit at the beginning? Strange. I think she had something over on Kurt Sutter!

I'd have sobbed over lovely Jax of old,but not the monster he became. Anything happening to Nero would've been heartbreaking.

I miss opie too. I named my cat after him. Grin

Chuckie was hilarious!

Agree about lyla. Such a pointless character. I really hated the way they dressed her too.

Oh my god!! Just watched the last episode. So sad.

But, I don't see how it could of ended any other way. With all loose ends tied up with black, Irish and Chineese, the club can move forward in their new business with Connor.
I'm pleased Nero, Wendy and the kids are getting far away from charming.

The only thing I didn't really like about the episode was Jax killing Unser. He didn't deserve that after all his years of loyalty to the club.

I still miss Opie too Sad

And more...

I agree with Bag lady being the angel of death. She was the lady in john tellers fatal crash (I think we found this out at the beginning of this series when her daughter smashed up jax's bike). She has appeared whenever anyone connected closely to the club dies.

The bread and wine I'm assuming were Christian symbols of communion, redemption etc. there was also a lot of father- son symbolism going on with jax dying like john and Abel playing with the soa ring in the car. Jax was also quite Christ like in his final shots, arms outstretched, dying for the redemption of his club.

Sorry for the ramble! I'm just trying to make sense of it all as I wander what on earth to do with my life now Blush

You are right, Lyla was annoying! I remember her wedding and she always looked a bit as if she would rather be elsewhere. There have been some great minor characters:- the divine Lincoln Potter, June Stahl, Otto, Venus, Roosevelt etc. But you are right about Unser, he got so little in return for so much.

When we've got over the trauma of 'the end' we should all nominate our favourite episode! I loved the pilot episode, it was utterly brilliant. Actually all the episodes with Clay were excellent, but the one where they patched over Jury's Indian Hills charter, with Half Sack and Cherry was a fab episode.
Also agree about 'Freebird' although the last song was purpose written for the finale and was pretty awesome. I have all the SOA soundtracks and the one I adore is Paul Brady's version of ' Gimme Shelter', I play it all the timeXmas Blush

I mostly stopped caring what happened to Jax in the last season, he'd gone too far. Unser was the final straw. And the club's body count as a whole ended up somewhere north of IS's. They would have triggered a national state of emergency!

Glad Nero and Wendy got away though.

Frolicacid · 14/12/2014 08:16

Oh yes guinea! Post custody jax was hot as was every other jax! I dreamed of soa all night. Hopefully I'm on the road to healing now.

I'll have a think about my fave episode.

Totly agree doob. The body count was massive. They must have run out of room in that ditch at the edge of town ages ago. Maybe the authorities just thought all the people who disappeared in charming were abducted by aliens or something?!
