Anybody seen the new series first episode tonight? OMG. Superb. Everything I was hoping for and more. The seeds are sown for much drama to come, and all our fellas are on fine form, with room to get finer.

I AM PSYCHED.

Just watched the first two back to back and bloody LOVED it!
Although I'd forgotten how graphically violent it is, had to cover my eyes at least twice.
Fantastic telly! Grin

Apparently the cast and crew were delighted to be working independently of the BBC on this series, as it allowed them 'greater freedom' for which I think we can read 'more sex and gore'. Happy days.

I noticed this week's ep was labelled a certificate 15, but next week is an 18. What will Captain Jack delight us with next? A threesome? Friday night you know what? I thought the brief scene in last nights ep was freakin brilliant.

And the drama, oh the drama. I really felt for the 'Railways' guy, even though he shot the other guy. And Finchy from The Office, he gets about :)

I think we're going to see Captain Jack on top shagging form, with our friend Jerome bringing up the rear so
to speak. Ardent and loyal fans will be rewarded with Matthew McFadyens arse in the final episode.

Who's with me? :)

Actually I don't think it was Finchy. It was the guy I always think is Finchy, but isn't.

Oh I love Ripper Street but don't have amazon prime. Is there anywhere else I can watch it?

Report
MorrisZapp · 15/11/2014 17:20

You can get amazon prime free for thirty days, that's what I've done. There'll be a DVD, and there are also plans to show it later on the BBC.

Is it a new series? I'd ignored it advertised as I thought it was the old series!

Just watched episode 2 and I'm speechless, to be honest.

Incredible drama, and I hope Susan's perjury comes back to haunt her.

Blimey!

Oh god me too. I'm one episode behind, having just watched episode two. Very, very challenging viewing. Also challenging on the credibility front, although the goodwill I have for these characters provides the figleaf to cover the outrageous coincidences etc.

I just love the details, how they craft a world so carefully. Like when Jackson was checking out the bearded copper's earwax :)

No shagging but you can't have everything. Susan, well what's she all about. I think she's a very scary woman.

And the clairvoyance episode ready when I am, life is sweet just now.

I did miss a bit.
I,m assuming that the girl is still alive or is that wrong?

Report
MorrisZapp · 22/11/2014 19:59

Yes she's alive, in good physical shape. The couple cared well for her. So the rage that drove Reid to commit such heinous violence was in part, misplaced.

Wtf Susan wants with her is another matter. Collateral no doubt.

yes i heard Susan tell Reid that she was dead & I thought how did that happen?

then I saw the looks that Molly Hooper the Dr was giving her & I thought that she must be lying.

Is it to protect her lawyer somehow?

Or she really thinks that she is terrified of reid?

But the guy who had kept her in the cage knew who she was & didn't return her.

And Emily (Reid) died not knowingSad

I thought Reid's wife left him? Is she dead?

Also who is this Molly Hooper, is she a character from another show?

Yes Reid is a widower now isn't he?

Although I think she did move out.
Molly Hooper is in Sherlock, played by the Dr working at susan's clinic.

Right, no googling!

Which comedian played a cameo role in the clairvoyance episode?

I was tickled when I saw the credits :)

(Underwhelmed by the plot if I'm honest though, and also growing tired of Rose and Susan's romantic vacillations).

I don't understand why Susan pretended Matilda/Alice was dead. Shiny Shoe Solicitor made out it would scupper the bonds theft and therefore put all Susan's plans in danger. But how?

He was legitimately at the Buckleys about their debt when he found her. That business came from the fat slimy guy Susan got involved with in the last season, didn't it?

What happened to him? I am enjoying it but I'm beginning to think I need sub-titles and helpful notes. And I've no idea about the comedian!

Report
diddl · 25/11/2014 10:04

No idea about the comedian either, but have only just realised that Edmund Reid & Fred Abberline were real!
