I know its Hallowe'een, but this is a wee bitty dark. Loving it, though.

The cremation detail is a bit unnecessary,
I liked the rest though.

Can't stand Danny.

Yes, it was the cremation bit that I was concerned about. I know it had a later start, but any youngsters who've recently lost someone could be really upset by that.

Fab episode!

I thought the same about the effect that could have on a child who has lost someone recently - there's fun scary and then there's just really disturbing scary. But did the Cybermen bit immediately disprove the "don't cremate me" bit? I don't really understand.

Very much enjoyed it but tbh I think it's not been a prog for little ones for a long time now.

I hate Danny Pink. This episode was just too sentimental even with the cybermen. Danny died, she had a lucky escape, she should have moved on and found someone more lively and interesting and less clingy, and who learned his green cross code.

I quite like Danny but I struggle to see what Clara loves about him.

I turned over as soon as they said it so maybe it improved but it immediately touched a nerve maybe I'm too sensitive at the moment

Hmm, I thought the cremation thing was too much. Tipped the balance for me.

I was a bit Hmm about the cremation bit, but the episode ending was Bloody Brilliant!!

Another one who switched off, using ds2 as an excuse. I he was going to have nightmares after the cremation bit.

Might need to watch the ending on iplayer then tomorrow.

We loved this episode!

It scared the DC back to behind the sofa where they belong (or would have done, except it's against a wall). DH had to take DD to bed, and is still there, so I suspect will be sleeping with her tonight as a result (nearly posted that on the 'fathers sleeping with DDs' thread, but it's moved on to rather different territory).

My DM (in her 80s) told me this week that she has got a serious crush on this Doctor. So I'm looking at it all with new eyes!

Danny is so wet he can't even cross a road by himself but Clara would betray the Doctor because of him? Hmm

Cremation part was awful but I've got to admit I laughed at the Medical science bit Blush.

Can someone tell me what was the point of the boy asking to meet Danny only I think I might have missed that bit.

I think the boy was someone that Danny killed when he was a soldier

I enjoyed it, but I don't know what age this episode is suitable for. I think Dr Who is normally suitable for over 12s, but this episode was so dark and frightening about death. My DS age 13 is going to watch it tomorrow, but I'm not really that happy about him watching it.

"Can someone tell me what was the point of the boy asking to meet Danny only I think I might have missed that bit"

Danny was a soldier who shot a civilian when clearing a house during a kinetic operation. The boy was that civilian.

With Remembrance Day round the corner, it reminded me of the Wilfred Owen poem Strange Meeting, when the soldier met the enemy he had slain

Yes I got that thanks, but did he say anything to Danny?, because I just saw him running away.

Report
mistyegg · 01/11/2014 22:26

There was someone reflected in Danny's iPad right at the end of the episode - was it the same boy?

Report
AuntieStella · 01/11/2014 22:27

"Yes I got that thanks, but did he say anything to Danny?, because I just saw him running away."

Nothing coherent. Danny recognised him on sight. Words not needed, attempt at apology so inadequate. The human side of "collateral damage" I suppose.

I thought tonight's episode was so disappointing after the last two weeks' excellent episodes.

Am I the only one who looooooves how dark it's getting lately? but thinks some of the actual plots are a bit crap/too unlikely

Is next week the last one?

DS is very meh with Dr Who at the moment (he's 15) . DH watches becauses it's not Matt Smith.

And there was a trailer for "Atlantis" Wink

The cremation bit was because the cybermen can only use actual bodily remains for upgrading, so wouldn't want people who are cremated (that's how we took it anyway - am acutely aware that I sound v geeky now!).

Loved the ending though - I didn't think I'd like capaldi as the Dr, but this series has made me laugh and has actually creeper me out in bits.
