Anyone else watching?

I loved the books and didn't watch series 1 as I knew they'd changed the time period etc. but a friend said it was worth a watch and so I've been watching it on 4pd while I've been off work sick.

It's a weird one. It's compelling and I'm up to date with every episode broadcast now but I find it sort of.... Irritating? Or at least I think that's the word I'm looking for.

Like... Rae is very dramatic as a character. The real Rae in the books seemed less prone to drama. Also the actress is verging on being offensively ugly- or at least the way she's made up, sallow looking, greasy hair, makes her very hard for me to watch. I want to give her a good wash and pluck those eyebrows. Especially as she's now meant to be on the verge of shagging the hottie who looks like Damon from Blur Grin

I'm not convinced by it but not sure why. Anyone else feel the same?

Lol your description of Finn is spot on! I know what you mean about it being compelling but irritating. It is a tad unrealistic and Rae isn't always a likeable character (see episode 3 of the new series for example).

There is another thread here where you might get more replies.

I really like it, but then I haven't read the books.

I actually knew a girl at school who wasn't at all conventionally attractive and was fat. She was also very sporty and went out with very attractive boys. I always used to wonder how she did it.
