Couldn't see a thread. Apologies if there is.

I am loving it, I danced as a child but don't think my knees could handle the extra weight I have now!!

Crikey! Haven't seen this before but I'm watching it out of the corner of my eye while MNing. That witch teacher had just made some poor woman literally sob. And witchy-poo seems to think sobbing woman owes her an apology.

I'm going to give it my full attention now Grin.

Oh I am loving this too - but I couldn't being myself to do it. It's bad enough lying next to the bendy young things at yoga!

(I think the sobbing girl is being groomed as 'the star' with a back story)

There was a thread, don't know where it went though!
I love it! I danced for 16 years, but am much bigger than any of the ladies on there! Plus much less flexible!
The witchy teacher reminds me of my old ballet mistress, and for that reason I love her, plus she's right, you have to do ballet properly!
Ubik I think you're right, which is interesting as I don't think she's the best dancer there!

I'm watching with interest. It's going to be difficult to produce something watchable (I think) because of the lack of technique between them, regardless of their size.

Wasn't sure about some of the dancers objecting to Wayne referring to them as 'fat' but thinking it fine to describe ballet dancers as stick insects with not an ounce of flesh. They preferred to be called 'real women' or some such.

Carabos I love 'Witchy-poo' that's so funny. I thought she came over so much warmer in ep 2. Thank god!

I started a thread about it the first episode, I danced until I had the kids and taught a bit after, I loved ballet but have a big arse so never looked good in a tu tu.
My son danced with Wayne sleep too, he is very funny and so good.

For anyone interested, one of the dancers from the programme is posting on the Big Ballet thread on the Doing Dance section of BalletcoForum.com

I didn't like it even as an amateur performance. I don't think it worked at all. I'd hoped it would challenge our perceptions of what makes a beautful dance/dancer, but sadly it did not. It was too awkward and obviously they lacked the necessary technique.

I thought they did really well although the black swan looked a bit self conscious. I am always disappointed at the ballet anyway. I'd much rather watch a lesson with the endless stretching and repeating till perfection.
At least this performance had emotion.

I thought it was pantomimic. I think Swan Lake was a bad choice for a group of unconventional, amateur dancers.

Not Matthew Bourne was it?
I thought it was emotional seeing people achieve their dreams but I agree not the best choice of ballet.
The stage was very small too especially for bigger dancers.
They did well tho, if I try to show dd a step she's struggling with I feel knackered.
