Odd time slot but sounds similar to Homeland in terms of being action packed and based on an Israeli series. I wonder why it's on Saturday rather than Sunday?

bisjo Sat 11-Jan-14 15:10:27

Well I will be watching even if no one else is grin

Cocolepew Sat 11-Jan-14 16:33:12

Me too grin. Might record it, depending on what's on.

I will record it as it clashes with the Bridge. It is repeated on Tuesday at 1.05 am also.

I'm looking forward to it too. Have never got round to Homeland so have no frame of reference there.

I'll probably watch it on Ch4+1 cos I'm a rebel like that sometimes grin

I'm in,
I will record it to watch tomorrow cos DH is at work tonight.
I miss homeland sad

Blondeshavemorefun Sat 11-Jan-14 18:04:11

on planner, may watch if its good grin

GypsyFloss Sat 11-Jan-14 20:45:08

Oh, I like Toni Colette. Might take a look.

It gets a very good review in the Radio Times (not sure if that means much). They commented that it is more like an action packed film rather than a tv series:

Imagine your family will die unless you agree to do something unthinkable. Imagine being taken captive in your own home by rogue government agents who know everything about you and have friends in high places. These are the predicaments of Ellen (Toni Collette), surgeon to the US President and mother of two, as she and her family are caught up in a larger conspiracy.

It would be wrong to say much more about the plot when Hostages does such a good job of keeping us guessing. There isn’t enough television like this that simply grabs our attention by the lapels from the start and refuses to let go. It’s what blockbuster movies do routinely, but the demands of small-screen storytelling mean we’re accustomed to slow patches in every plot.

Not here. From the start, Hostages grips like a tourniquet and tightens steadily. The series’ overlord is Jerry Bruckheimer of CSI fame, so not a frame is wasted. It’s like a fast-food version of Homeland: nothing fancy, just tasty, slick and very moreish.

bisjo Sat 11-Jan-14 21:27:09

Oh god it has only just started and I'm already confused. It's like having Homeland deja vu confused

Cybercat Sat 11-Jan-14 21:31:08

Im rubbish with faces - is the FBI agent rogue? Is he one of the 'kidnappers'?

BOFtastic Sat 11-Jan-14 21:31:54

I'm going to watch it on +1. Excited!

bisjo Sat 11-Jan-14 21:35:13

'Number One' aka Dylan McDermott was the FBI agent that shot the bank hostage taker.

bisjo Sat 11-Jan-14 21:35:51

I'm hooked even if I'm following it as well as I follow Homeland (poorly).

Cybercat Sat 11-Jan-14 21:37:19

Thank you bisjo. I thought so but I'm not good with faces!

bisjo Sat 11-Jan-14 21:47:14

So are the FBI behind all this?

Cybercat Sat 11-Jan-14 21:58:10

I reckon not, I think 'Number one' and the rest are effectively pawns in this game. Did she find the 'mistake' or was that someone else and she was lying to the press cameras?

bisjo Sat 11-Jan-14 22:03:16

No idea. Interesting that the man with Dylan's dad was the man who was in the car with the President. It's one of those shows where I'd have liked the first and second episodes to be shown together. There are 15 episodes in all but not sure whether there will be a second series or not (CBS apparently haven't decided yet).

Cybercat Sat 11-Jan-14 22:07:30

Ah, well you see I missed that - I'm hopeless! If DH was watching it he would have noticed that!

Cybercat Sat 11-Jan-14 22:08:51

I prefer to watch series as boxsets or on Netflux because I can keep up if I watch them back to back.

GypsyFloss Sat 11-Jan-14 22:30:02

I liked that , it seems to be quite a tangled web. I saw the doc switch the vials but missed seeing when she decided to do that . Was that shown?

Southeastdweller Sat 11-Jan-14 22:56:25

Enjoyed this but can anyone tell me why she deliberately cut her finger?

bisjo Sat 11-Jan-14 22:59:43

I think she was going to chop her finger off so she couldn't peform the surgery.

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 12-Jan-14 00:42:28

would you really harm yourself so that she could never operate again? thought the finger cutting was silly

but otherwise was a good programme and enjoyed

have kept on sky+ so will check about the man in car

the fact he is fbi and 12hrs earlier shot a man several times as coz he shoes didnt match was weird

maybe the president is a baddie? else why on the fbi want him dead

or is sexy dermot playing both sides?

glad woofa was ok smile
