Thanks for the tip. Will have a look too. We love Masterchef Australia.

I think it is just Matt Preston who is doing this with Marco Pierre White, unless the boys show up at a later stage. We too will give it a go, but we are a bit worried it is going to be very worthy and not much fun!!

Also does anyone remember when MPW told the contestants in MC4 ( the one Andy won anyway) that he could tell all he needed to about someone by the way they held a knife? Could be a short series Grin

We are looking forward to it. The amateur contestants this year were shite so I hope the pros will be good. The restaurants they show on MCA always look really good but they only have "hats", assume Michelin doesn't cover Oz as some definitely look star-worthy

Oh thanks getdownshep, I forgot it was starting tonight, I'll give it a whirl and see how it goes, Davros I always wondered that aswell about Michelin, it mustn't cover it, and didn't MPW give all his stars back or something, and decided that they didn't matter, of course that was after making a fortune on the back of michelin stars I would think Wink

No doubt MPW decided that advertising knorr stock pots has more validity! Looking forward to this, coupled with Wanted Downunder I am going to be Aussied-out!

I had a chuckle at the titles at the start, re the knife comment I posted about yesterday!

Great viewing, they all looked so scared! Wheres' MPW's bandana though ? thought Matty may have sealed his fate just by wearing the hat .

Loved it, especially MPW. I would like to see them competing against eachother rather than big group challenges. I assume MCA does this semi-big brother format with a big group living away from home because of the size of the country or maybe it's because so much money is spentoin their MCs. I really thought they would say "ha ha, no-one going home today" so I was surprised they went through with it. Hated Matty's hat, looked unhygienic. I thought it was noticeable that the men were puffing out their chests and making the women do the mundane tasks. I predict the women will put up with it at first and then they'll turn and assert themselves. I liked Cassie, glad she got the immunity, that will show them!

I enjoyed it, I really can't make up my mind whether or not I like MPW, sometimes I do and sometimes I don't, I didn't realise they would be cooking for their families on the first night, that must have ramped up the pressure.

I liked it too. I can't figure out what that guy did to get thrown out first night though? The hat?

Ellenora5 · 08/01/2014 22:18

It was to do with the way he made the ravioli Zucker, he didn't make the pastry right and the inside was soggy and Matt didn't like it, as far as I know that was it anyway, but he did help the others at the end so I thought that would have earned him a few points

Report
Davros · 08/01/2014 22:30

I thought it was very harsh to throw someone out on the first night, that's why I thought they wouldn't actually do it.

Ah yes the pasta, thanks Ellenora5. Yes I think they were trying to show them all its business in this masterchef. No tears and group hugs here!

The second guy who got eliminated was an arrogant piece of work. If his career is so fantastic why enter the competition in the first place ? Adriano is back tonight Grin

I was thinking the exact same thing LIZS, he was nasty saying that about cooking like an amateur, I reckon that was aimed at Acuc, who I quite like, I wasn't surprised that the mother of two went (can't remember her name) she was a bit out of her depth. Rhet seemed a bit of a know it all but Marco brought him down a peg or two, basically telling him to get back to cooking and stay there for a while, has anyone got a favourite yet or is it still to early

Davros · 20/01/2014 23:46

Anyone else still watching? We just got up to Tracy leaving (at last). I think they are a bit soft on Acuc (sp?). I like Cassie, Michael, Rhys. Not too sure about Cameron and Rhett (what were his parents thinking?!).

I'm still watching, I have to play catch up and watch a few episodes in a row, didn't like Cameron at all, he reminded me of the chap in the other masterchef who thought he knew it all, can't remember his name now, but him and Nikki thought they were the bees knees, until they were all gone Grin, anway I'm liking this so much better and think the challenges are good, I have just watched last nights one with the outdoor cooking and the horseriders,

I like Cassie, Bonnie and Coop, although in a few episodes I thought I must have missed one and Coop had been sent home because they seemed to never show him, I think Rhett has coped on now and he is good, but I do have a soft spot for Luke and Michael

Yeah I liked Luke too, seemed like a nice chap.
Rhett does some excellent one-liners but he sometimes comes across as a complete arse about the other contestants.
I really like MPW on this, I think he's a really good mentor who knows how to get them to challenge themselves.

ah feck I'm only on last nights, serves me right for bumping the thread Blush

I''ll be back after I've watched tonights Grin

I'm only up to the Italian service challenge. I've git used to finding out who leaves before I've seen it. Still like it though. Rhett can come across as a shit but his food has improved since he started when he could only do stuff he knew and he usually delivers. I like the beardy two and Sarah. She is serious about her work!
