Yes I have. It is not an easy watch by any means... a very brave film. There's redemption at the end.

Yes I saw it at the cinema. Very well acted film but also very disturbing.

Yes it isn't for the faint hearted & very graphic. There's redemption at the end quite rightly pointed out by DevonCiderPunk

I watched it on iplayer. I'd always meant to see it but never got round to it. Really really well done and acted. Very hard to watch but worth it. For me it had so much to say about human beings at their very best and worst; what it means to be a mother, self-image, parental abuse, self-empowerment and coping strategies in the face of an intolerable life. Seem to remember the actress who plays Precious getting an Oscar. If she did, I can see why she was awarded one. Brilliant performance.

Iirc it was Monique who played Precious's mum who won the Oscar. It's a hard watch but unfortunately is reflective of some people's experience. I read the follow up novel and was disappointed that Abdul's life continued in the same vein as I thought the abiding message was that even though Precious couldn't save herself she was able to break the pattern for her children.
