Young Montalbano starts BBC4 Saturday 9pm - you know the usual foreign crime drama slot.
Hope the actor chosen (Michele Riondino- dark and handsome if his pic is anything to go by) is believable as our hero in his younger days.

Will there be a young Mimi and Caterella? Obvs no young Fazio as he would still be at schoolGrin

Shock - just checked and there is a young Fazio in it as well as the others - interesting.

It is also rated even higher on IMDB than the original so bodes well for great Saturday night viewing.

Oh wonderful! I googled Michele Riondino and some photos show him with really curly hair, how funny if young Montalbano had a full head of hair Grin

I wonder if Livia is in it, have they ever explained how they met?

I wonder if the opening titles will be as gloriously bad and wobbly?

Welllllll, what's the thoughts?

I'm not all that impressed (miss the old titles toi) and wouldn't give it a second view if it wasn't for the fact that I love the books and the original series.

Bit disappointing but could be a grower. We'll have to see how it progresses.
Lots of odd age/height stuff going on - the old shepherd must have been 60 if he was a day but 51 - I don't think so.
Salvo & Caterella too tall, will they make Mimi short & fat? Grin
Good news - Mimi & Livia enter in the third episode.
Missed Fazio Jnr(though his dad seemed a nice guy much like his son)plus the music & titles.

I'm interested to hear what someone who isn't familiar with the original has to say. Does it work on its own or do you need to be 'in' on the characters and locations?

I'm not 100% sure about it!
