New comedy sitcom set in WW1. Had high hopes and was disappointed to find I had missed the first episode so thought I was lucky to stumble across episode 2 last night.

Sadly mistaken, I hardly cracked my face. Mostly unfunny and in poor taste. Pissing on a War Memorial tree is supposed to be funny? Really? Not in my book.

I watched the first one; I didn't laugh once. Seemed like they were trying to set The Inbetweeners in the past but failing miserably.

Gave up after the first 10 minutes or so. I didn't laugh or even smile once. 'Big School' the new comedy on BBC One is not brilliant, but you could almost call it comedy genius compared to this.

What a waste of time and effort for everyone involved. Totally unfunny.

Dh recorded it so we're just watching it now.
Ok, gave it 15 mins, that's more than enough, total rubbish.

The Guardian says:

'Chickens may be vulnerable to the suggestion that it's merely The Inbetweeners transferred to the first world war, but that scarcely matters as it continues to deliver the laughs. The set-up ..........works just fine.'

The reviewers must have been watching a completely different show to us. Or they are on glue ....

I've never seen The Inbetweeners so can't compare. I did think one of the characters was trying very hard to be David Mitchell in Peep Show, and dh and I thought the format reminded us a bit of Plebs (modern type characters and humour set in past time), except that Plebs was funny.
