I missed it. What channel was it on?

BBC4

I just couldn't get my head around HBC.

Yeah I didn't think it was very good either. What happened to the famous violet eyes? They could have at least given hbc some contact lenses...

I think the radio times said she did have contact lenses. I'm not convinced that ET really had "violet" eyes anyway, Hollywood BS IMO. I quite enjoyed it but it was a very limited setting in time and context. Who knows if any of that stuff went on between them? It was well made but just think of it as mostly fictional

It was dreadful, wasn't it?

I quite enjoyed the diary programme afterwards.

With Robert Hardy calling LT "vulgar"!

Sure I also saw a programme once where he was recounting a tale of LT & Princess Margaret.

PM called LT's diamond ring vulgar-& tried it on.

LT said "not so vulgar now, is it?"

I've heard that princess Margaret story too

I thought Dominic West was very good and sounded like RB but sadly it was boring and I switched off.

I'm not sure if he didn't like her-I think he was referring to the way she argued/fought/ with RB as vulgar iyswim.

Maybe he still had some loyalty to RB's first wife?

I got the impression he found her a bad influence on dear rich . and probably you are right and was loyal to his first wife,

Could be that he did think that about her-especially if his behaviour changed when they got together?

They did seem to be pretty obsessive, didn't they?

And if it was true that she was so offended/sad about him remarrying-isn't that weird?

I mean she knew he was with someone & hadn't they been divorced for a while by then?

Seems a classic case of can't live together, can't live apart!

Or I don't want you, but don't want anyone else to have you!

I don't think that either of them came across as nice/reasonable!

I think they were very vain didl and that is where the problem lay,

I saw this performance a few years back with my mam. Absolutely mind blowing!

That looks really good juniper, I wonder if it would translate well to TV? Although I find them interesting, I personally don't like their films. That era is too late for me.

It was fabulous. Had me engrossed. I don't see why he couldn't be on TV?

I enjoyed it. Thought DW & HBC acted well.

I thought it was good, but all the way through, I knew it was HBC and not Liz Taylor. She was much prettier than Liz Taylor for a start! Despite the fact that I like HBC, I always see her as HBC in every role she plays. She can't kind of transport me into thinking she's that character.

Funnily enough, Liz Taylor was always Liz Taylor regardless of what role she was playing.

I rather liked it, and agree HBC much more of a beauty than Liz Taylor.

It made me interested in the 2 of them, as I knew pretty much nothing before.

Interesting that Liz had a genetic mutation that gave her beautiful double eye lashes, but also probably the heart disease that killed her.

I wish they'd make more stuff like this, but BBC4 has just announced they're not making any more drama. Shame.

I've just started watching it but may give up. I'm usually a big hbc fan but can't be doing with her in this. The voice is awful. DW seems good as Richard though.

I thought it was great - HBC seemed very Taylorish to me. DW was fab.

The story was a bit chaotic, and dragged a bit in the second half.

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 31/07/2013 18:39

Actually in real life, Liz Taylor's voice was quite waspish and shrill. I thought HBC played a much nicer version of Liz T!
