Long Lost Family

I remember a thread about this during the last series and some of the programmes felt voyeuristic and with difficult stories, but I'm sobbing at the last story of the mum who had an awful family life and had to give her daughter up for adoption at 10 days old.

Probably doesn't help that I have an 11-week old DD now. Sob!

Anyone else watching?

I am watching. The story re the mother and daughter had me in tears. Her adoptive mother is so lovely too.

Slainte Mon 17-Jun-13 21:19:37

I can't stop crying sad

Slainte Mon 17-Jun-13 21:20:00

Sorry Koba it's on ITV.

I feel for any woman who has to give her child up for adoption. I can't imagine how heart-wrenching it must be sad

WingDefence Mon 17-Jun-13 21:28:03

Oh no, and this woman was forced to by her husband, who is just sitting in the next room, reading the paper shock

WingDefence Mon 17-Jun-13 21:30:16

Oh and now the dad is upset too.

It's like the thread that's now in classics.

Phew. Ad break.

Seems he does have a heart Wing

The lovely photos of their son smiling is touching. He has been through so much.

I really shouldn't watch it as it makes me angry about my bio dad and the fact he decided I wasn't good enough to know when we first met, me aged 30, a few years ago.

But I am watching. The stories tonight are so touching. The man who's parents actually got married, how emotional.

WingDefence Mon 17-Jun-13 21:34:34

Lego, I'm really sorry about your birth dad sad

You're right patience, he does.

Back to the first mum. Where are my tissues...

WingDefence Mon 17-Jun-13 21:35:02

Davina is starting to look old on HD

LegoAcupuncture Mon 17-Jun-13 21:38:20

It's the part when they finally get to meet that gets me. Tissues at the ready.

WingDefence Mon 17-Jun-13 21:38:45

Gosh they look alike too.

Ooh, meeting up!

WingDefence Mon 17-Jun-13 21:40:47

Give her the ring!

Slainte Mon 17-Jun-13 21:45:45

So sorry to hear that about your birth dad Lego.

HoHoHoNoYouDont Mon 17-Jun-13 21:48:31

Crying my eyes out sad

WingDefence Mon 17-Jun-13 21:49:20

Do you think this man will feel even more rejected knowing that his parents are married and he has a full sister, and yet they didn't want to find him?

LegoAcupuncture Mon 17-Jun-13 21:55:13

Oh gosh, don't apologise about that wanker. I've an amazing dad who has been in my life since I was a baby, who I wouldn't swap for the world.

I do findit strange how they never tried to find him, but then adoption was so different years ago.

HoHoHoNoYouDont Mon 17-Jun-13 21:55:28

That's what I was thinking wing.

It's so sad.

LegoAcupuncture Mon 17-Jun-13 21:56:22

What a lovely letter from his dad.

HoHoHoNoYouDont Mon 17-Jun-13 22:00:10

It's just heartbreaking when you hear about situations women were put in, having to give up their children.

patienceisvirtuous Mon 17-Jun-13 22:01:55

Really heart warming. The daughter and son turned out so well and were so lovely -they showed no bitterness.

WingDefence Mon 17-Jun-13 22:03:01

I felt so sorry for that second mum too. My DH has been out tonight and will be coming home soon to find my mascara running all down my cheeks!

harverina Mon 17-Jun-13 22:06:56

Omg I was hysterically crying - not helped by the fact that I am 20 weeks pregnant and very hormonal! smile
