'I'm kicking Big Brother' support thread

bakedpotato · 24/05/2006 17:10

I've been awash with self-loathing for the last week and I've just worked out this coincides with the return of Big Brother.
Huge swathes of my adult life have already been wasted on this cr@p. Three months a year for seven years*? I'd rather not do the maths.
So I am going to go cold turkey.
(Though I cannot promise to stay off it for the last month.)
Anyone else want to join?

*Seven years? Is this right?

I'm so proud that i haven't dipped in yet (esp as I am pregnant and so both braindead and welded to the sofa). But I will need support!

I'm resisting too, for as long as possible. I accept that at some time I will watch it but for now I'm just not interested.

I must say I'm finding it really easy to resist this year. watched for 5 mins the other day to see most of them just bitching about each other.

Bp you are so completely right to be doing this. Just wondering if I'm hard enough....doubt it.

Tonight will be easy: The Line of Beauty is on at 9.

It's the rest of the week that will be challenging.

Last night I felt my soul shrivel to prune proportions as I watched people whispering about other people's BO.

Come on Toots, commit.

I've seen a little bit - although I swore I wasn't going to watch at all Grin but I'm pleased to say they are so bad and unlikeable that I can't see me watching very much at all.

It's all been done before - same old, same old.

Anyway I go on holiday on Saturday .....

ITL of Beauty - been looking forward to since the credits rolled last week.

I too saw Nikki and the good pit/bad pit routine. Soul could easily have shrivelled but it sort of plumped (like plum rather than prune) in an 'at least my concerns aren't quite that petty' way. Watched a chunk of the is he beguilingly audacious or repellantly self-obsessed Russell Brand show after and found myself thinking that kind of I'm-not-really- watching-this-it's-just-on denial rollocks.

Trouble is I read TLO Beauty earlier this year and didn't actually enjoy it that much. Watched it last week but not sure I want to watch it tonight and Shabhaz has left and so....... arghhh!!!

Sorry, but I'm loving it. I had vague ideas about resisting it but have been in from the start. I'm watching Pete for research purposes you see.

Refused to watch last years BB, but this year I've got into it and enjoying it!

Report

I will publicly insist that I don't need to watch it as I can go into any town centre on a Friday night and see the same, but get drawn in. I'm fascinated by the dynamics and psychology of it all.... Plus I get to judge the living shite out of a bunch of people for 3 months and it's just too nice up here on the moral high ground.... Bah!

My confessional is open for the day.

Any takers?

I went to pub. This means tonight I can watch tape of TLOB -- so that's another night saved.

It really is absolute rubbish this year, with a bunch of low-life. I think Davina should disassociate herself with it before her career ends up down the pan.

I really shouldn't be watching. I didn't last year and I felt so clean. However have watched it for the last two nights. Am being sucked in. Help!

Well, I'm not stopping. I spend most of the time watching through my fingers because I'm cringing so much, but ho hum, I'm still loving it!
