I started watching this last night, but went to bed just after the junior thug was talking to Thursday's daughter (had a migraine - but not because of the show!) so what happened? Who died? Please not D I Thursby!

Wonder if there'll be any more?

I guess character wise they are pretty much there?

So did he miss the sergeant's exam-hence why Strange get's to become his boss?

Although wasn't it always hinted that he didn't conform & that's why he didn't get promotions?

Endeavour's dad looked so much like an aged John Thaw. Great bit of casting.

Thanks for that! I woke up worried about Thursday! Do hope there'll be more as I've enjoyed this. Like Lewis as well.

I'm not a huge Morse fan (I've watched the odd episode) and I've never seen Lewis but I flipping LOVED this show.

The actor is so well cast, you can 'see' him turning into the later incarnation of Morse.
Brilliant.

Totally agree with how well cast this has been. I absolutely love it, much more so than Lewis.

I'm currently reading the Morse books and I have found myself sometimes imagining the character as the young version rather than the Thaw version. They really do seem to be the same character, which I never thought would happen as Thaw seemed so right for Morse.

I really hope there is another series.

I read the Morse books before they were turned into TV films. That is, those that were already written, which is about half of them. John Thaw wasn't at all my image of Morse, partly because I associated him with The Sweeney, but he came to embody the role of course.

Lewis was originally an older man and he was Welsh. I think references to his age and Welshness have been removed in later editions of the books. I must see if I still have the old copies :) Also Morse drove a Lancia, not a Jag.

I'm only on book 2 at the minute and there has definitely been a reference to Lewis being older than Morse, but I don't recall anything about him being Welsh yet (but may have missed that). He is definitely driving a Lancia too. Smile

Oh! Is that an old edition you're reading, Anne? I vaguely remember an interview with Colin Dexter mentioning that the car had been changed to a Jaguar in later editions. I'm not sure that it was ever overtly stated that Lewis was Welsh, it may just have been passing hints, if you know what I mean.

I bought the set last year, Kitten, from The Book People, I'll have a look later and see the print date. It could have been an old set they were selling on the cheap I suppose, as it was £5 for the whole set.

This is the set but I see it has doubled in price to a whopping £9.99! Shock

I will keep an eye out for references to Welshness and Lancias to see if they change over the course of the books! Smile

Just checked and it was printed in 2011; no mention of any revisions since originally published, though.

Strange, I could have sworn CD said they'd changed the car in the books. Anyway I've unearthed my Morse paperbacks and they are all pre-TV (at least the early ones) so when I have time I shall look for the Welsh evidence! :)

Dp and I have really enjoyed watching this series.

Also agree that the casting is very good, especially like that John Thaw's daughter is in it as the newspaper editor.
