Ok - summarise Broadchurch for me please before it starts

Dd has been watching it avidly, dh and I haven't seen any of it - but we're all going to watch it tonight and have promised dd not to ask inane questions. No time to catch up via internet.

I know Danny has been killed, and everyone else is a suspect - who are the other characters and tell me a bit about them please.

Danny's mum - not really a suspect

Danny's dad - does have time unaccounted for on night on murder but was having affair with Becca, local aussie hotel owner, now found out (she is his alibi)

Danny has sister and grandmother and sister has boyfriend - not really suspects

Ellie, policewoman, lovely. Last week ominous rumbles that something going on with her son she doesnt know about - to do with his computer. He and Danny were close friends or fell out.

David Tennant, lead detective. Has heart problems. Just found out in cliffhanger what was on Danny's computer. We don't know what!

Ollie, reporter, seems lovely, Ellie's nephew.

Nige, strange friend and apprentice of Danny's Dad - was suspected, seems cleared but not definite

Pauline Quirke, turned out to be his birth mother, claims she saw him dump Danny's body!

Jack, newsagent, killed self (we think) after implicated in Danny's death

Odds are its Ellie's husband Joe (who looks like Nige in the dark) - and/or her son Tom

I suspect Ollie.

But Ellie's son definately got a big secret!


Oh - also Vicar, Rory from Dr Who. Attends AA meetings. Teaches IT to the boys

The one thing we know about tonight is that the EE actress who plays Ellie's sister/Ollie's mum and claimed to know something (but was not believed) will turn out to know something after all.

Best actress in it is Olivia Colman, followed by Pauline Quirke's rl dog.

The accents are occasionally v creative.

Look out for Ollie too. He's the young, wet behind the ears journalist who keeps looking doe-eyed at the Journalist Not From Around Here. He's a strange beast. Supposedly good looking, on paper v attractive but totally and utterly sexless. Quite a mean feat tbh.

Watching Olivia Colman act whatever hits Ellie tonight is what I'm really looking forward to.

BTW postmortem says Danny was strangled by a pair of large hands, thought to be male. He was then left on beach, and it's thought his body was brought there by boat.
