Felt a bit sorry for her. At least she has admitted a problem and is trying to address it. There are lots of parents who show no active interest in their kids. I hope it works for them.

She came across much better than I expected from the "toenails" selective quotation.

Her DD has always been well cared for; the mother was fine on maternity leave, but had the honesty to admit, when she returned to work, at she actually enjoyed work for itself and took on more challenging roles and preferred to pursue that even when it had an impact on home life. Now her DD is a bit bigger, they do more stuff together. It takes a fair bit of honesty to recognise that you don't like the toddler years.

But the bit that made me cross was at there was no discussion on the role of DH. The DD has two parents, after all.
