I've decided. I actually can't stand Girls and I'm not watching it anymore.

Overhyped that's what it is. It's taken me until halfway through the second season to realise it. Even my 26 year old pixie friends have stopped watching and they made me in the first placeb. When it's funny it's hysterical but the laughs are few and far between. I didn't need to see Hannah's bum crack this week and now that lovely Irish actor has gone there's really no attraction. I know you fans will sy it's not meant to be the next SATC but there's no denying some of it is a blatant rip off. I may be old but I'm laughing much more at the SATC re runs.

I never shed one tear I must be dead ard. None of them are likeable and the sex scenes make me feel like such a prude.

Well my planner seems to have recorded it so I will watch it but, I am not getting into season three. The whole thing is just not worth it for the odd bit of excellence. Even my 25 year old mates have given up although they do seen to be wearing very similar Hannah clothes and are saving to go to Brooklyn

I really liked the last ep too - the stuff with Adam was actually quite moving although Hannah was being infuriating! Agree, Marnie & Charlie are not likeable characters but they do kind of deserve each other.

anyone see the last episode? I cried my eyes out! Marni and Charlie are a pair of dicks

KittyMcAllister Sun 17-Mar-13 18:17:04

Anyone kept up with this? I really have warmed to it, though some of the characters are pointless & annoying (I'm looking at you, Jessa). Hannah is complex and endearing, plus I really like the way they've developed Adam's character - he seemed loathsome at first. Also the episode where Marnie sang Stronger was just hilarious.

It's usually good when her parents are in it as well.

expatinscotland Wed 06-Mar-13 09:32:28

It's dull.

Lighthousekeeping Wed 06-Mar-13 09:23:47

And, the angsty sound track. Aimee Mann always gets rolled out. No, Im over it. what was it like this week?

merlottits Mon 04-Mar-13 06:58:31

Truth be 'told' not 'total'. Blimmin' iPad.

merlottits Mon 04-Mar-13 06:57:26

I'm watching it avidly and also with great curiosity as I don't understand why it's won all those awards and Lena Dunham is considered so talented.

I feel it's lecturing me on how 'normal' women's bodies are OK but if truth be total Lena's body repulses me. There is a reason why beautiful people get nekkid! We want to, and enjoy seeing them naked.

I also don't find it funny at all. It's interesting though, and I will continue watching for that reason. It's certainly original. I find it very different to SATC, in fact nothing like it at all. Shame, I loved SATC smile

I had to give up.

It gave me the same feeling I got when I watched Kids. But Kids had a really important moral message and the odd likeable character, whereas Girls has NO likeable or sympathetic characters. They aren't just flawed, they're unpleasantly flawed. To the extent you do wanna smash their faces with bricks!

NadiaWadia Mon 04-Mar-13 05:58:12

Agree about Lena constantly stripping off. And her tattoos are just too much they look awful.

this is how i feel about charlie brooker, i know exactly what you mean.

the first series was funny, this series - not so much

Spoonful Sun 03-Mar-13 02:45:15

I think when it is good it's better than most other comedies I can think of, that's why I am sticking with it!

Lighthousekeeping Sat 02-Mar-13 22:41:01

I don't understand why anything is worth sticking with just for the odd spark of brilliance. My life is too short for that and my sky planner too full.

tabulahrasa Sat 02-Mar-13 22:27:51

I watched the first three or four and just gave up - I hated the characters, they were so self-absorbed. They weren't like 20 somethings, it was like watching 15 year olds.

Lighthousekeeping Sat 02-Mar-13 22:12:59

It's trying to be too clever but always makes me feel deflated by the end

BOF Sat 02-Mar-13 21:58:18

I like the relief it makes me feel that I'm no longer a self-absorbed 20-something divvy.

pinkpaperpiggy Sat 02-Mar-13 21:54:19

I watch it.

I don't see it as a SATC rip-off really as the lifestyles in SATC were quite aspirational in a way but I don't think anyone would aspire to the lives of the Girls.

It's not always comfortable viewing and I can't say I enjoy it as such but there is something about it that keeps drawing me back.

I feel like a lot of the episodes start out well but sort of peter out towards the end which is disappointing. For example, I thought the episode where Adam and Ray had the dog started well but went nowhere.

BOF Sat 02-Mar-13 21:44:00

I love it, sorry. Not sure what that says about me.

Lighthousekeeping Sat 02-Mar-13 21:42:58

The peeing public seeing her arse crack finished me off. I get they we all come in different shapes and sizes but, really? I've given in too many chances.

Blondeshavemorefun Sat 02-Mar-13 20:54:18

gw297 - same here, nice that she isnt stick thin, and portraying a real woman with curves

but tbh if i see her fatty tits one more time ................

or that awful tattoo - i love tattoos but thats horrible on herarm and back

FrillyMilly Sat 02-Mar-13 20:54:00

It is a bit over hyped. It has its moments but the scene with Jessa and her dad on the swings was painfully bad.

Spoonful Sat 02-Mar-13 20:39:42

I have found the last few episodes really dull but I'm giving it a chance to pick up again.

GW297 Fri 01-Mar-13 23:14:22

I thought I would love it and it would be great but it's such a disappointment and I am not enjoying it at all. So fed up of seeing Hannah either naked or shagging too!
