I loved the disco starter (and the chef....)!

Disco starter was good and yes to the dishy chef. I didn't like the chicken and egg one. Trying too hard. The other one was boring.

I wish it was on at 6:30pm. I like watching it while cooking/eating tea.

I agree with the above. Richard Corrigan always marks really low though: he must have loved them all.

I thought that Richard Corrigan was more generous than usual with his marking too! I hope that this series being about comic relief doesn't mean compromise or any drop in standards...

I don't think any of the dishes this week have made me think "that's really hit the brief". And I can't understand why Adam went through ahead of Matt when he clearly ignored the brief in ALL his dishes! I can't see any of these making the banquet.

MsNobodyAgain · 01/02/2013 10:05

Must admit, it has been disappointing so far. The Comic Relief brief doesn't really float my boat.

I totally agree, TennisFan. They might have been nice but they weren't remotely on brief. I assume Tom A will go through.

Looking forward to some more humorous contributions from the Celtic fringes!

Yes, I assume Tom will go through too. I hope Oliver rips apart Adam's dishes for being dull. And let's hope next week's offerings are more interesting!

I HATE the chefs choosing who goes through. Its so obvious who they're going to chose Angry.

Richard Corrigan was so far up Adams arse from the beginning so knew he'd go through even though he didn't follow the brief once!

I am a bit in love with the young chef who didn't go through.
Those eyes!
Those forearms!

I can't remember any of the dishes Blush

Ok, I'm watching the judges bit- I don't really get the brief. How do they make it funny, really? HmmGrin

I like GBM- for such a non-offensive programme, it can get quite heated.Grin I've been trying to remember who it was who walked out last year...

The chefs are horrible tonight. All the macho bullshit.

Johnnie Mountain (great name) walked out last year. I enjoyed that immensely.

I felt really sorry for Matt as well for not going through. Adam just seemed to put a load of dishes up that he would have made hundreds of times in his own restaurant. Really annoys me. Either don't have a brief (particularly stupid one the Comic Relief one, but hey) or don't put people through who ignore it. The other chefs may have spent time wondering how to inject 'humour' into their dishes and coming up with good ideas, perhaps to the detriment of time spent on their actual dishes and one hasn't even bothered with the brief. Glad he didn't go through.

Raahh · 02/02/2013 12:03

Johnnie Mountain! That was the one. How could I forget a name like that!

I felt for the female chef last year- think it was Stephanie Moon?- who really messed up with the brief, think it was Olympic themed. She had all sorts of props, and it was just embarrassing.

So what do we think so far of the chefs this week?

Report
Bilbobagginstummy · 04/02/2013 22:03

Tony Singh is the only one with a sense of humour.

Sadly, Angela Hartnett doesn't seem to have one.

Tweedledeedum · 04/02/2013 22:23

Me too Lizzylou, he was hmmmm tasty! Drives me nuts when they ignore the brief and are not marked down severely. Surely the judges think Richard is an idiot for letting them through?

This week loving the Spam revisited dish! Grin

TennisFan42 · 05/02/2013 07:55

I thought it was really odd when Angela went over to Tony to tell him off for accidentally throwing away the juice he needed for his dish. I think she is going to grate this week.

Report
MsNobodyAgain · 05/02/2013 17:44

Angela was harsh! Her scoring was harsh as well. Maybe it's all those years she spent with Gordon Ramsay.

I like Tony. I'd love to see him go through.

Not another one where the unfunny technical one goes through. Why do they bother having a brief? Why not just say "cook your best dishes"?

Tony should have gone through. I thought the blown-sugar red nose was genius.

What has AH done to her boat race? She was plastered in slap! Wrong one through again
