Bonkers.

And boring. DH was glued to it, don't know why. Heston wants to make big ice cream, Heston makes big ice cream, end of show. Yawn. Unless I missed the interesting bits whilst trying to get 4 children to bed?

DH LOVES this weird man (i think it's the cooking equivalent of boys toys) Hmm!! I reckon he ruins perfectly okay food Grin

Used to quite like his programmes, bored now. And it seemed to take rather too long before anyone did any engineering calculations - which I don't believe for a moment.

Watched the whole ice cream programme to find out how he would make a giant flake - and the only reference to said flake was when they were assembling it all, and they said 'complete with giant flake' - Yes But Tell Me About The Flake, goddammit!

You know what they say, big food, small......

...I am also more than a little anti-Heston, as he left his wife after she had loved and supported him for over two decades....

You can stick your big food and infidelity. The world needs solutions to hunger, not wastage.

I totally agree Punkatheart Grin

Didn't see the 99 ice cream but saw him on the orient express with his humungous breakfast. Don't see the point of it.
Punkaheart - I wish the likes of tesco/sainsburys would live by your motto "The world needs solutions to hunger, not wastage" They chuck out sackfulls of bread and cakes etc at the end of each day. They even padlock the bins so homeless people can't 'nick' it. Makes my blood boil. They would prefer to chuck it out rather than reduce the price to 5p per item or give it away for free. What is wrong with the world. It would rather see people starve than help them. Bloody shameful. Sainsburys can claim the money back for the bread and bakery items they chuck out into bins. Sorry, kind of hijacked thois thread. Rantings over.

Agree wholeheartedly, What. The more I see of this world....well there are times when I don't want to be in it. But it needs voices and action to change....

punk The Food Programme on R4 (I can't link but you could probably get on play again) were talking about how many more supermkts are giving their surplus food to food banks now. It IS improving. Room for a little hope Smile

Not improving at all in my area. I work in a small Sainsburys convenience store and they chuck out at least £200 from bakery waste every single night. Disgraceful, it truly is. They waste so much but they claim back the dosh. They count and record everysingle breadroll and cake so they can get claim money back.

ppeatfruit · 19/11/2012 14:35

Whatthe Have you ever said anything to the manager? 'cos as you said that is DISGRACEFUL and Sainsbos pretend to have a good record for going green, waste management etc.

WhatTheFookIsGangnamStyle · 19/11/2012 23:59

Yes ppeatfruit. It has been commented on time and time again to Sainsburys manager by myself and other staff colleagues. But it's company policy and so that is that. Sad It truly sickens me to have to fill up the sacks of waste of bakery goods but they simply do not care. They will lower the price by only so much and if it isn't sold it gets chucked and they somehow claim the money back.

Angry Sad so it's Head office policy is it? well I wonder what the Food programme on R4 would have to say about it Hmm

Well I've just been on Sainsburys website it's a load of crxx and it lies.

I just tried to email The Food Programme and twice it disallowed the email. Maybe you could try they would deffo be interested in your story. I'll maybe write to head office Sainsburys there doesn't seem to be anywhere to post an original question on their website just a lot of pre written questions Hmm.

Total waste of time. I am spoiling the programme for dh by moaning about what a colossal waste of time and money this is.

TheCrackFox · 20/11/2012 21:58

I haven't watched it mainly because I can't stand the arse but has he made a reference to his 1970's childhood as he manages to shoehorn it into every sodding programme?

Indeed germy. And I had the misfortune to watch the one with the giant tea bag this week. What an idiot he is.

TheSilverPussycat · 27/11/2012 14:16

I have given up watching.

I am keen on some Heston stuff, but I haven't watched this, because I have exhausted my interest in giant foodstuffs though the website Pimp That Snack.
