OK, a bit speculative as some will have liked it & some not.

I´m halfway through series 3 & there´s quite a bit more to go.

Have enjoyed it so far-so is it worth sticking with?

And if I do-will I understand the ending??

Loved it. Don't understand the ending.

Seven sodding years of my life i'll not get back.

I loved it but Fringe is better.

My DH got Lost on LoveFilm.
So we were "treated" to 4-5 episodes a day.

Even though I was MN ing , it was next to me (TV screen and PC screen side by side)

How many hours of my life will I never get back sad

BTW, the ending is dire confused

I liked it - keep meaning to watch it from the beginning without all those annoying season breaks. I'm a bit of a weirdo in that I was quite content with the end, it made sense in the context of the series that things were never explained, I get that I'm in a very small minority though grin

I loved it , loved it, loved it!.. The end makes me cry everytime and I think its a beautiful ending.

I loved it, i loved the last few series when you found out loads more about other characters (can't say to much without giving it away) agree with others that the ending was pants, but i would still watch it again and again.

I know total sadness for Charlie (sob) sad

Actually the end, as in the actual final scene, was lovely and made me cry too. However the sentimental quasi-religious stuff that came before and was the main 'explanation' for the flash-forward/flash-sideways events of the final series...well, I expected better than that.

roughtyping Wed 10-Oct-12 09:11:52

Oh my favourite episode is the Charlie one where he knows what's going to happen.... Sob!

diddl Wed 10-Oct-12 12:13:55

Trouble is I don´t really understand it.

Then something happens like when Ben, Juliet, Ethan, Goodwin & others were/appeared to be living on the island & saw the crash & I´m thinking-ooh, interesting-& I´m hooked again!!

SassySpice Wed 10-Oct-12 12:17:27

Worth it for Josh Holloway (Sawyer). Absolutely gorgeous.

Otherwise no.

ArthurShappey Wed 10-Oct-12 12:19:36

I really enjoyed it at first but it just went on and on and on and got more and more ridiculous.

CrocodileDundee Wed 10-Oct-12 12:22:19

I watched it all recently, watched all 6 seasons in the space of a month, I loved it!

I had so many people tell me or had read that the ending was terrible, so i wasn't expecting much, but i though it was actually ok and did tie it together.

NotInGuatemalaNowDrRopata Wed 10-Oct-12 12:26:00

I'm still REALLY pissed off about the ending, all this time later. Felt utterly taken for a rideangry

Orenishii Wed 10-Oct-12 12:31:53

I don't think anyone could tell you if you'll like it or not grin There's too many variables in there!

There's so much good about it - the creepiness of the Others, the radio transmission, the focus on pregnant women, the coincidences and the flashbacks, Desmond and Penny's love story, Charlie and "not Penny's boat" (sobs heavily at that bit), Sawyer and Kate, Harley and the lottery numbers - it's intriguing, funny, creepy, devastating and very cool. I would not write the entire thing off for the ending, at all, because there is so much to enjoy along the way.

But then at the same time, it was just so infuriating. It was such a brilliant, brilliant premise, and executed so well in so many ways. But it did lose its way a lot, and I got completely fucked off with it mid-series 3 and refused to watch it. The whole thing of the characters having the opportunity to ask the bloody questions they should...and they never, ever did!! Gargh! I think it also suffered through the writer's strike that year, and it showed. It was a victim of its own success in many ways - it reeled you in so completely, and left you gagging for explanations, and just didn't have much more than an old man behind a curtain using smoke and mirrors...

Then I re-watched up to where I'd left off, watched it on a level of - it being enjoyable but knowing the writers' penchant for not really ever explaining anything, and saw it through to the end and just kind of accepted they'd built it up to such an amazing degree, maybe they could just never end it well.

So my advice when it comes to Lost - enjoy it for its creepy, very funny, very intriguing plots and don't base your entire enjoyment of it on the ending smile

LegArmpits Wed 10-Oct-12 12:33:05

Best telly ever.

Orenishii Wed 10-Oct-12 12:48:53

I think that's the thing you know - it annoys when people just write it off as crap because there were some infuriating, crap parts to it. But even with that in mind, it was still far away the best television I have ever seen - when it was good, it was freakin' incredible. Everyone....EVERYONE at the time was pulled into it and OBSESSED.

But I think they were agents of their own demise in that sense...the very worst aspects of it were entirely because its level of brilliance and it was operating at such a high level that when it came down to even an iota of some of the absolute crap on television, people were almost outraged wink

Heroes was the same - started out so fantastically with the whole "save the cheerleader, save the world" thing and it was brilliant! But then lost its way, suffered through the writers strikes and season breaks but when it started to lose some of its shine, people were used to a very high level of television from it and it made the contrast between it being good and it being not so good too great.

Something operating on an OK, engaging but not brilliant level will never get slated in the way something that has such HIGH peaks then loses its way does.

Oh yes I remember being hooked when it first came out.

Think I only watched the first two seasons & then it went to Sky.

Or there was a long break & I missed the return.

BuT I think it was series one that ended with them opening the hatch & peering down & I was left thinking how great it had been & couldn´t wait for it to return.

(And I love Desmondblush)

Ephiny Wed 10-Oct-12 13:04:46

Yes I agree. It was a bit inconsistent at times - there were episodes and storylines that were just silly or pointless, and it did drift/meander a bit with things that were made out to be important near the start (like The Numbers) just being forgotten about in later series. And there were some annoying/pointless characters too.

But when it was good, it was awesome. I remember watching the first series way back when it first came out, and it was like nothing any of us had seen before. Easy to forget that now there have been so many imitations (FlashForward, that one with the alien plane crash and her from ER, what was that called?) but it was really quite original and daring at the time. None of the 'imitations' have been nearly as good or as successful.

I wouldn't say it was the best television I've seen, but at its very best, it was not far off.

cbeebiesatemybrain Wed 10-Oct-12 14:37:30

I was addicted to it until it went over to sky and I couldn't watch it anymore. I've heard about the ending and it was the first thing I guessed in the beginning but thought it was too simple to be that iyswim? I'm glad I stopped watching now although I was gutted at the time, all the unexplained things would have really pissed me off after all that buildup!

PetiteRaleuse Wed 10-Oct-12 14:40:17

I enjoyed the first two series, then it went downhill. I didn't bother with the last one at all - completely lost interest.

mummytime Wed 10-Oct-12 14:43:48

Cheesier you guessed the real ending at the very start? Or did you guess the ending of the whole show which is not the "explanation" for the island but just a bit of oddness "the slip sideways" of the final series?

Ephiny Wed 10-Oct-12 14:49:29

The ending is not what you probably think it is cbeebies smile

(it's not a great ending, certainly, but it's not that thing that everyone was saying at the start. It just looks a bit like it.).

Actually thinking about it, it was an interesting thing they tried to do in the last series. Just didn't quite 'work' for me.

cbeebiesatemybrain Wed 10-Oct-12 15:50:04

I'm confused now and don't know how to explain without giving it away to the people who are still watching! I remember listening to the Chris Moyles show during one of the earlier series and he said that was what he thought too if that rings any bells for anyone? I didn't watch the ending but my friend did and was really pissed off!

SpanishFly Wed 10-Oct-12 19:26:06

First 3 series were great. It went sharply downhill after that. So many episodes started to get samey. Not worth sticking out to the end. It was one of the biggest disappointments ever.
