Unlike Charlie Brooker I'm not one for convoluted TV reviews, so I'm just going to say: 'It was shit, wasn't it?'

It really was. I'm not going to bother with the rest of it.

but yes, shit

Oh, I loved it, I have it recorded to watch again for the more subtle things.

I must have missed the subtle bits

It had some very clever 'Airplane' stuff to it and some visual jokes in the background.

Watched both 1 and 2 tonight.
Knew it was based on aeroplane, becasue had watched the show about how it was made.
Dh and I agreed to watch it again, because a bit like wallace and grommit, it needs a few viewings to pick up on all the funny bits.
saying that, I thought it was good, funny, but maybe not quite as funny as I was expecting.

Tried to watch on Sky+ this morning. I lasted about 10 mins before deleting it (did the same with Hunderby). It was, as you say, shit. THe level and type of humour you usually find in a poor SIxth Form Review. Not clever, not even worthy of a smile. WHat a disappointment.

It could have done with a stern editor before and after filming. Far too long and stuffed with feeble jokes that detracted from things that were good.

Someone should have also been on hand to tell Brooker that he's not the only one to have noticed that crime dramas are cliched. Or to think it's clever to reference other programmes for no particularly good reason except to show he watches a lot of TV.

But no one dares say, which is a shame. He's not the only precious control freak who ruins his own work because he's in love with his own jokes.

Terry Gilliam's another one.

I loved it. I have a very silly sense of humour Grin

I just groaned through it, all the cloth jokes got a bit annoying.

Much prefer Bad Education.

Report
axure · 28/08/2012 16:42

Yes it was pretty crap, agree Bad Education is much better.

Report
limitedperiodonly · 28/08/2012 18:56

Bad Education? What's that? Can I still catch it?

I saw half of Hunderby and had to pause it because work has intruded.

I think it's okay. Will give it more time

DP is sat next to me on the sofa pissing himself laughing...

He hasn't laughed this much since the "eggs box 360" joke at Christmas.

Let me be the first to say "Leave the bastard!"

finally watched part 2 and was easy watching - ligh hearted comedy and much needed :)

I like it too. It's clever, but makes you think it's not iyswim. That sort of TV is really hard to make. It's got obvious jokes, subtle jokes, surprises and bits you can predict. Love it.

Bad Education- like as well. But it's not anywhere near as clever. And is much more indulgent of jack Whitehall than cloth is of Brooker IMHO.

I'm watching it now. I think it's brilliant! Grin
