On Ch5 now.

Now I'm no military expert but I know officers in the Navy on active duty do NOT wear kharki and there is no way on earth we would ever call a naval ship HMS Sparrowhawk Shock

I'm sure there's more inaccuracies that have missed my civilian eye but I can't be the only one who is irrationally annoyed at the sloppy errors?

Now obviously if I am wrong be gentle with me... but at the moment I keep muttering "ffs!" Every time they utter the ship's name or the a captain appears on the screen wearing what looks a bit like army uniform and it is rather spoiling my enjoyment Blush

I thought that about his uniform but didn't they say he was a marine? Although not sure that's a marine uniform. Sparrowhawk!! How American is that.

I do love NCIS though.

But it's NCIS.

We don't watch for reality, we watch to see Gibbs get his man!!

and for Tony who is a bit mmmmm

HMS Sparrowhawk?? pffft. Were the Naval officers chomping on cucumber sarnies and drinking Earl Grey? Wink

Omg. Mi6 now in the mix

Even a marine doesn't wear kharki.

Ordinarily I can suspend my disbelief. A team of less than ten people foiling numerous high profile terrorist plots I can buy. But Sparrowhawk? Sparrowhawk?!

Sorry Royal Marine.

It's obviously catching. At what point will Fergie turn up? Of will Prince William drop in on his helicopter? With Kate on his arm, whipping around in the landing draft but still with perfect hair??

Sorry to tell you this but there has been a ship called the HMS Sparrowhawk and one called HMS Skylark too

Noooooooooo! Skylark I can believe because at least it's native but I cannot believe the other one Sad

The big thing that made me chuckle Shock was that the Royal Marine was quite possibly the most highly decorated Royal Marine ever... Did you see how many medals he had?! Someone needs to tell the producers that the British Armed Forces do not get as many medals as their American counterparts.

Also I'm pretty sure his (number twos) uniform was wrong, especially the hat. But I can't be 100% on that, there was a Royal Marine at my brother's wedding and I'm pretty sure his hat was NOT green.

But sparrowhawks are native to the UK. I even checked on the RSPB website. Of everything unrealistic in NCIS you manage to pick the one bit that isn't.

How many Navy Seals were there that found and killed Osama bin Laden? About 10? I consider NCIS virtually a documentary.

Here's a link to more information that you might want about Royal Marines uniform.

Though if they wanted to be authentic, I'd have expected one or two to be in drag, and the rest naked.

Petrean: the green headgear would be the beret of the Royal Marines Commandos. The peaked hat is mainly White.

The uniform isn't accurate but he's supposed to be a royal marine, when wearing khaki he should be wearing his beret too .
There were 6 ships and a base named HMS Sparrowhawk but none exist today.
