Flowerista Sun 18-Sep-11 22:19:11

His wife blackmailed him, she knows about Mary and the Turkish diplomat, she threatened to go to the papers with it. She wants them to live together with his new money.

Flowerista Sun 18-Sep-11 22:19:48

Do youvreally want to know or watch catch up tv?

hiccymapops Sun 18-Sep-11 22:20:18

Too many adverts angry

LeBOF Sun 18-Sep-11 22:20:29

His wife heard the gossip about Lady Mary and the dead Turkish guy, and is threatening to ruin the family and Anna by going to the Press. She is blackmailing Bates into staying married now that his mother has left him a few bob.

Thank goodness for some decent TV viewing again. That's one of the few good things about winter - improved TV.

ThePrincessRoyalFiggyrolls Sun 18-Sep-11 22:39:13

I soooooooooo love Downton - roll on next weekend grin

pamplemousserose Sun 18-Sep-11 22:48:07

harrietthespook Sun 18-Sep-11 22:48:18

Very weird - lady mary w/o the nastiness...passing out cuddly toys????

PennyFothaguy Sun 18-Sep-11 22:49:47

you can NOT answer the phone you know

LeBOF Sun 18-Sep-11 22:54:13

I even felt a bit sorry for Scheming Thomas.

senua Sun 18-Sep-11 22:55:16

Was it extra-long because it was the first one of the series? I can't be doing with giving over an hour and a half of my Sunday evening on a regular basis.

missmogwi Sun 18-Sep-11 22:59:43

Yeah I felt sorry for Thomas too, and the other lad who was given the White feather.

Suppose they couldn't win, sign up and face the horrors of war, don't sign up and labelled a coward.

Misspixietrix Sun 18-Sep-11 23:00:43

missmogwi don't answer it! lol me and my mum have a deal, she rings in the middle of downton, we're falling out! grin I loved him in Lark Rise too. Senna the first one last year was 90mins then went to 60mins every sunday so presumedly so. Compelling viewing as always x

hiccymapops Sun 18-Sep-11 23:02:58

I even felt a bit sorry for Thomas, but I'm sure I won't when he gets back.

missmogwi Sun 18-Sep-11 23:03:18

Oh I've learned my lesson grin

Thought it might be important as late for mum! I'll have a quiet word with her about Sunday nights!

RottenRow Sun 18-Sep-11 23:03:19

Twas great. Not sure how I will be able to wait a whole week for more.

Misspixietrix Sun 18-Sep-11 23:03:39

self correction, not quite sure compelling was the right word, but completely addicted again already should I say, sorry it's late! lol x

Flowerista Sun 18-Sep-11 23:04:01
