It is Jasmine who does A place in the Sun Home and Away and her mother who hoards stuff, interesting watching.

it is very interesting; you can see the desperation in Jasmine's face but the love she is handling it all with is amazing... wish my mother was so lovingly supportive (she's more a sledge hammer support type, is my mum!)

Oh yes, I thought I recognised her.

Such a sad situation.

The love does shine through. Are you a hoarder Lewis?

Don't be embarrassed at all.

not QUITE to that extent, but my bath is full of black sacks full of clothes.... (I go to my mother's to shower - I have hot water issues anyway, so would need to even if the bath was empty)

and I have very, very little storage, so the problem is exacerbated...

I need to sort it for DS :(

I think Jasmine is much more sympathetic than her brother.

I like the way they've not vilified her mum.

lol @ the orgy in a box!

I don't think I'd react like her when I do sort my house; I just get very depressed and bewildered by it rather than panicked... but that would fade, I think

No they haven't, it is a very gentle gentle approach.

although I think the patience just met the end of the line, briefly... (I am on slight time delay - Jasmine's just left....)

Yes, this was an interesting programme. But I would love to know why she (the mother) felt she "needed" so many "action figures". Or, indeed, any!

She had/has brought up 7 children, most of whom have left home.
She needs to feel that they and their things are still around her
and that she is still needed
and she needs to know that if she needs something it will be to hand.

The most telling line was when Jasmine said "what would happen if the van full of stuff just drove away"
and her Mum replied "I would never trust anybody ever again"

the stuff is an extension of her

my Dad is a hoarder - the foibles are initially amusing and then infuriating. But the situation can only be managed, never cured.

what an emotional story - and a loving family
