For everyone on the Danish Killing threads earlier in the year - good news!

Lund, Troels et al are coming back for a repeat of S1 "soon" according to a trailer on the Beeb earlier this evening. I'm wondering if this will lead into Series 2 which they said would be shown later this year?

I was really annoyed that I missed this first time round.
Has anyone any idea when it starts?

I've just had a look starts next sunday at 10pm on bbc 4.

Can't wait I've given up on the american version it's so boring.

I've been watching the US version but I am not really 'into' it. Would it be better to give it a miss and switch to the original?

The DAnish Killing is so much better than the American one. I watched one of the American and ditched it. Also have it on good authority that the new series of the Killing will be straight after the repeat of series 1 finishes. Hurrah!!!

I think I'll switch, we've got a couple of the US ep's recorded that we keep making excuses not to watch!

Eek!!

Is this series 2 or a repeat of series 1?

Series 1

Hurray! Thanks for this, OP. I'm watching the US one and actually enjoying it, but I am fully expecting the Danish one to be better. Reckon I'm watching them the right way round!

whatkungfuthat · 15/08/2011 18:40

Is the story the same though? I don't want to sit through the same thing for 6 episodes.

was I the only person in the world who actually liked the American version?

Report
LadyClariceCannockMonty · 16/08/2011 09:41

No, I like it too but probably because I haven't seen the Danish one yet and so haven't been spoiled!

As per our > RT - the Killing Series one is shown every night from Sunday to Thursday at 10pm.

I'm liking the US one but am aware the original Danish version is said to be better. Should I watch both to see the endings????

Report
anonacfr · 17/08/2011 09:02

Well they totally changed the ending of the US version so I guess it's probably worth seeing both.
I've watched the whole US run and despite the fact that the last episode was one of the most hated of any US TV show ever I actually quite enjoyed it. I've got the Danish version et to record after reading all those rave reviews.

Oh by the way great name!

Fantastic news! (I was atswimtwolengths on the previous thread.)

I don't understand, though. Are they reshowing series 1 and then going into series 2?

anonacfr · 17/08/2011 15:03

Yes.

atswim! 'tis i, teej aka troelsnextcampaignmanager Smile

i have not watched the US version but was addicted to the original earlier this year. actually i watched 5 mins of one episode of the us version and just thought nnnnnnnoooooooo, 'tis not right!!! but i think it can be difficult to watch different versions of the same thing and not draw immediate comparisons...

cannot wait for it to restart Grin

actually should inform RL friend, too, she bought a Lund jumper recently in honour of the original...

DH thinks I'm very sad to want to watch it again.

Then again, I have recorded most of the Swedish Wallander series. Even though they've been screened twice......

my pleasure jetli and can i say you have some great moves Wink

highlander we could be telly twins Grin dp often walks into the room and enquires exactly how many times i have seen the wallander episode i'm watching, but you know i think it's important to know where all the dodgy people/areas are (and all the fancy restaurants) should i ever find myself in ystad Wink

Wallander too - oooh I love Wallander - all the versions. Very sad that the series has finished on BBC4 Sad

Subtitles mean I have to Sit Down and Concentrate so I don't feel guilty for not ironing or tidying at the same time Grin

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 18/08/2011 15:13

I've never seen Wallander (either version). Is it worth the effort of seeking it out illegally on the internet on DVD?

Oh Wallander is fantastic, LadyClarice! Just one thing, occasionally they say the odd thing in English, which is a bit disconcerting. Has anyone else noticed that? At first I thought I was just learning Swedish!

So they'll say: "Gobbledy gobbledy gobbledy gook. Gobbledy. Gook. And close the door please."

Makes me spill my wine.

But the atmosphere and the characters are wonderful.

Hi teej! I'm looking forward to the thread just as much as the new series!

Ah LadyC yes! A lot of people who have watched all three versions (myself included) would rate the Krister Henriksson episodes above the movies starring Rolf Lassgård or the BBC adaptations starring Kenny Branagh. Although it could be a bit like the US/Danish versions of The Killing - ie you may prefer the one you saw first!

x-post imperial Grin
and yes i know what you mean about the bits and bobs of english slipping in - there have been times i wondered if it was the magical translation properties of copious amounts of wine Wink

ah...we do love our subtitled euro crime, don't we?! and the threads for all the speculation....

also - did you see the proposal for the beeb to drop BBC4 Shock i will be out on the streets protesting!
