Its meant to be a one hour cutting edge documentary celebrating people?s attitudes to being frugal and finding out ways that people get value for money. I hope i do sound promising and intelligent!

be careful. don't let them wander round your house getting 'batty lady' pick up shots. 'celebrating' can mean 'taking the unholy piss out of'.

AitchTwoOh · 12/08/2011 12:22

also, is it really 'cutting edge' or is it 'first cut'? those strands are v different.

and what is the prod co? (indeed, are you from the prod co, trying to get more characters for your doc?)

No problem AitchTwoOh ,
Bt now u are scaring me, guys
the anchor's name is chris aristidou and i think the prodcution company is raw television
have googled. have spoken to them over the phone, seemed like really nice people. Lets be optimistic, they won't wander round my house getting 'batty lady' pick up shots.
Relax guys and thnx for the concern , bt i am sure they have a reputation to save also.
And its cutting edge, as lots of people wud be featuring in :)

raw are pretty decent, actually, but just be aware (like, hyper-aware) that they have a story to tell at the end of the day, and if you say one bonkers thing it will take pride of place.

Having taken part in two documentaries, I can tell you that they very definitely will have their own agenda, and whatever you say/do you can't derail that. Just hope they're positive about you!

absofuckinglutely not. i would never in a million years do anything other than live telly, unless i was involved in the production process. and tbh if i can give you one other piece of advice, it would be not to involve any friends of yours. because if it goes tits-up, you'll be the one who takes any flack.

First time was a documentary about teenage pregnancy in Edinburgh, back in the early 80's. My flatmate was responsible for a fair few of same, and they wanted to talk to him and his current gf. He didn't have a current gf so I was talked into pretending I was... Cue many takes of us walking hand in hand along the canal, stopping for a kiss before going into the flat and so on, an utterly manufactured scene in a pub... When the programme was broadcast they'd swapped questions and answers around and we all looked like total eejits. I fled the country visited a friend in Cornwall immediately after.

Second time was more honest and positive.

Well, I did take part in another documentary, which was essentially about my hobby at the time. I agreed to take part because I knew the presenter shared my hobby and wouldn't rip the piss out of us. He didn't. Grin

Just be aware that they might have a "see how weird people can be" agenda ("And here's Ms Onelily, who hangs her teabags out on the line to reuse...") rather than a "hard times are with us, let's see how resourceful people can be" one.

seriously, do stop lobbying people to go on the show with you... if you want to do it, great. but if it goes badly and you have persuaded people to do it, it'll be you who gets it in the neck.

actually, i'll ask because it has always fascinated me... why do you want to be on telly?

Report
onelily · 12/08/2011 14:48

Guys, why are you taking it the other way?
And for the record i don't reuse my tea bags & neither am i lobbying anybody.
Its all in a very good interest as they want to know how i saved so much from just shopping.
You don't think its worth it, no problem, was just suggesting, doesn't want to hurt any feelings
And about whats attracting me to be on t.v? Its simple, i want to tell people how i saved £120 on a new phone contract, £88 on bed room fittings and etc. Its something to be proud of. How many of you have done that?
