New Preschool TV series for helping little ones nod off to sleep - 'Glowbert'

Hi everyone,

...am here to ask for a little advice. I run an animation business (...think Wallace and Gromit!) specializing in producing animated TV for preschoolers. You may have seen some of our shows on Channel 5's Milkshake preschool programming (Little Lodgers / Sailor Sid / The Milky and Shake Show).

We've recently developed a concept for a new preschool show ('Glowbert') that's designed to help little ones settle down to a good night's sleep after a busy day (...and hopefully make life a little easier for mums and dads!). We've produced a very short sample animation to introduce Glowbert (60 seconds) and would love to hear your thoughts....

We think it might be well suited to CBeebies Bedtime Hour but we'd be interested to hear what you think. Do you like Glowbert? Would it help you little one to nod off? What do you like / don't you like?

Any feedback would be hugely appreciated. :)

I generally find that children settle better with a calm bath and a snuggle in bed with a parent reading a nice book.

I don't think watching any TV is a good way to settle a child for bed. It was always bath, book, bed in our house.

Hi there,

Thanks for the feedback. Do you feel a programme could help your little ones settle down if the show was based around gentle music and helping children to assosiate the main characters with bedtime?

Isn't "In the Night Garden" designed to do this type of thing? My DS hates it, and it doesn't settle him at all, so I am not sure I can comment on Glowbert.

Reading "Owl Babies" about 17 times seems to do the trick though!

No. Bedtime is a time for no TV.

It's far healthier to sit and have one-one time with a parent and read a book.

I'm afraid I have to agree with the others. There's no TV at bedtime in this house either. Sorry.

Perhaps try netmums?

Dd does watch some tv prior to bed bath story so it's not actually directly part of wind down . She likes to watch whatever is in favour at time (eg peppa) and has rapidly become bored with special programmes aimed at wind down like mr moon or in the night garden . Thus nice idea but not sure there is a need for a bedtime programme
Per se (prob far from it as dd seems put off).

Hmm at netmums comment...

Thanks for the comments. I'll take it to the broadcasters and see what they say. While I'm not a parent myself in all honesty I have to agree with the above comments - it does seem like winding down at the end of a day is a great time for some one on one time with the little ones...everything is so frantic these days I guess it's as good a time as any.

Much appreicated and hope you're all well.

Also Hmm at try netmums.

Dd often watches something before going upstairs for her story, but it's usually whatever she's into at the time.

I like the name Glowbert though, I think it's very cute.
