I do have some sympathy as I've been very fat in the past but I have no idea how anyone could allow themselves to get to that size

It is an eating disorder though, although he's killing himself by being too fat not too thin

I am sympathetic. He's ill and has a compulsive eating disorder. I think anyone who spent all their life in bed and most of it with no company, the only company being paid staff, would be a bit self absorbed. No life at all, poor man.

Also, at this weight, he must feel there is no point in losing weight because he will have massive loose skin and his muscles will be fucked from never moving

Agrees with cargirl. Someone is giving him the food as he can't get it himself. Clover is not low fat and crisps......aaaarrrrggggghhh

If only so much care was given to people who are assessed as needing 24/7 care due to chronic pain and disibility that has been caused by NHS medical negligence

I don't understand why he 12/24 care provided he has as much mobility as my friend and she get 4-6 hours per day

I do have compassion btw.

YY. I know a couple of people with one or more children with as limited mobility and far greater disability who don't get near that level of caring assistance.

In my experience anorexics get very good treatment on the NHS, having 100k spent on me wouldn't have changed my treatment. Without the money spent on him this man would die.

expat - what makes anorexia/bulimia more deserving than other eating problems?

The thing is though, with fat people the GP will just say 'Lose weight, don't eat so much' etc. ad infinitum until they get absolutely huge. Whereas with anorexia if you drop below a certain weight alarm bells will ring with GP. So with someone like him, they won't notice until it's too late

Nothing. I never said it was. It's vastly underfunded, centres for treating it closing down here in the north.

But how is a gastric band helping with a mental illness? I presume anorexics aren't just stuffed full off food- they are given psychotherapy. A gastric bypass will stop him eating so much. As would his carers refusing to buy him 3 takeaways a day! ( i have only just started watching this so it might have been explained beforehand!)
