Yep, watching. I must be a right cold hearted bitch, as I have absolutely no sympathy for him whatsoever.

ChippedChinaTeacup Wed 05-Jan-11 21:56:40

I do have some sympathy as I've been very fat in the past but I have no idea how anyone could allow themselves to get to that size

singingcat Wed 05-Jan-11 21:58:39

I do have sympathy, although resent the massive NHS bill.

It is an eating disorder though, although he's killing himself by being too fat not too thin

Mssoul Wed 05-Jan-11 21:59:55

I am sympathetic. He's ill and has a compulsive eating disorder. I think anyone who spent all their life in bed and most of it with no company, the only company being paid staff, would be a bit self absorbed. No life at all, poor man.

nurseblade Wed 05-Jan-11 21:59:57

Would you have sympathy for an anorexic? Having suffered from anorexia, I have a lot of sympathy for him.

TheCrunchyside Wed 05-Jan-11 22:00:18

realy comes across as a mental health issue in this case

CarGirl Wed 05-Jan-11 22:01:47

I just don't understand why his carers kept on overfeeding him in terms of calories once he was immobile.....

LovePinkBitsOfMyHorse Wed 05-Jan-11 22:02:12

how can you not feel some compassion, unless there is something emotionally wrong with you?

singingcat Wed 05-Jan-11 22:04:08

Also, at this weight, he must feel there is no point in losing weight because he will have massive loose skin and his muscles will be fucked from never moving

expatinscotland Wed 05-Jan-11 22:05:18

If only so much money were devoted to individual people with anorexia/bulemia.

supergreenuk Wed 05-Jan-11 22:07:32

Agrees with cargirl. Someone is giving him the food as he can't get it himself. Clover is not low fat and crisps......aaaarrrrggggghhh

CarGirl Wed 05-Jan-11 22:07:49

If only so much care was given to people who are assessed as needing 24/7 care due to chronic pain and disibility that has been caused by NHS medical negligence angry

I don't understand why he 12/24 care provided he has as much mobility as my friend and she get 4-6 hours per day sad

I do have compassion btw.

expatinscotland Wed 05-Jan-11 22:09:03

YY. I know a couple of people with one or more children with as limited mobility and far greater disability who don't get near that level of caring assistance.

Cold hearted bitch it is blush okay maybe was quick
off the mark, didn't realise it could actually be an eating disorder and have no experience of them myself. I agree, a major mental health issue.

singingcat Wed 05-Jan-11 22:11:26

just seen him without clothes.

I could never let someone get like that, don't care how much they yelled

nurseblade Wed 05-Jan-11 22:12:19

In my experience anorexics get very good treatment on the NHS, having 100k spent on me wouldn't have changed my treatment. Without the money spent on him this man would die.

LovePinkBitsOfMyHorse Wed 05-Jan-11 22:12:19

expat - what makes anorexia/bulimia more deserving than other eating problems?

singingcat Wed 05-Jan-11 22:14:57

The thing is though, with fat people the GP will just say 'Lose weight, don't eat so much' etc. ad infinitum until they get absolutely huge. Whereas with anorexia if you drop below a certain weight alarm bells will ring with GP. So with someone like him, they won't notice until it's too late

expatinscotland Wed 05-Jan-11 22:15:57

Nothing. I never said it was. It's vastly underfunded, centres for treating it closing down here in the north.
