Emmerdale - Down's pregnancy storyline. Anyone else think it seems odd?

So rhona the vet went for her first scan. Had blood tests results which showed the baby might have Down's Syndrome. She has another blood test that day and then within 2 days a midwife comes to the house telling her it's positive. Hmm

So was thinking...when I was pregnant, I was only offered the test at 16 or 18 wks. ( didn't take it though).
Where/ when was the amniocentesis done to confirm the test results?
Or do they do it with a blood test now? ( was only preg just over a yr ago so can't have changed that much) what blood test was this?

Also surely she would have seen a consultant or had some sort of counselling beforehand. To have a midwife come to the house to blurt it out is so wrong.

This storyline seems so wrong to me. They haven't handled it well at all.
Or is it just me who thinks this way?

I agree she would have had to have a amnio or a cvs test do get a definite yes or no. But as with any pregnancy story on soaps they are never very realistic. However, if they do bring a downs baby into the soap I can only think it would be a positive thing to happen.

I had a high risk of Downs, came back after NT and bloods 2 days later; offered CVS within 6 days (so at 12+6).

(Didn't have it but had amnio at 16 weeks - but process the same)

Midwife rang to give negative result 2 days later. As far as I am aware, still would have got the results in the same way if positive, no consultnat, no pre-counselling.

So doesn't seem that odd - but she would have to have had a cvs (not just another blood test Confused

I had an amnio and was told results the next day (negative). This was 5 1/2 years ago.
