Im watching it yet again. It is so good i dont think i will ever get bored watching it. It makes me sad though that John Thaw is no longer alive. He was such an amazing actor. I cant believe it is twelve years old.

pinkthechaffinch Sun 21-Nov-10 13:48:10

He was so lovely in it wasn't he. I'd read the book long before it was on TV and he was just perfect in the role. Fab story.

lottiejenkins Sun 21-Nov-10 13:49:27

If i remember correctly it was filmed in the same village as The Vicar of Dibley.

I haven't seen Buried Treasure before. I hope it's half as good as Mr Tom.

lottiejenkins Sun 21-Nov-10 15:22:52

Buried Treasure made me sob and sob and sob! sad

LetThereBeRock Sun 21-Nov-10 15:30:57

I'd best bring out the family sized Kleenex box then.

lottiejenkins Sun 21-Nov-10 15:35:07

I first saw it the year after my dh died. That might explain why i was crying!!

LetThereBeRock Sun 21-Nov-10 15:49:37

I'm sorry Lottie.Little wonder it made you cry then.

Did you need the tissues LTBR????

LetThereBeRock Sun 21-Nov-10 17:29:53

Several One or two were used.

NormaSknockers Sun 21-Nov-10 17:33:30

I love this so much, can't believe I missed it

That bit where he finds him and the dead baby girl in the loacked cupboard <<sobs>>

I adored the book, it's one on my list to read with DD when she's a bit older along with Carrie's War.

LoudRowdyDuck Sun 21-Nov-10 17:36:24

Oh, I love the book, I've never seen the film. Is the quality on youtube any good?

My lovely primary school teacher read this to us (doing all the accents, he was great), and I always hear it in his voice. He died a few years back, and he wasn't very old. sad

LetThereBeRock Sun 21-Nov-10 17:41:25

It's quite good.Certainly good enough to watch the entire thing on.

LoudRowdyDuck Sun 21-Nov-10 17:47:08

Great, thanks very much LTBR. Nothing worse than starting to watch and finding it goes out of sych as soon as you start getting weepy!

LetThereBeRock Sun 21-Nov-10 17:49:04

I watched it on Youtube a few months ago,and I'm sure that was the version that I watched. Apologies if there's any problems, but it seems fine so far. I've watched the first two parts.l

I love Goodnight Mr Tom. I think we read it at school - I certainly read it years before the film was made. Both film and book always have me in floods. DOn't even get me started on "Shadowlands"...
