Confused.

The worst anti climax ever!

Didn't make any sense.

They were in purgatory all this time and now in the church waiting to go to Heaven or Hell.
Simples!

They were only in purgatory in the last series in the alternative timeline, the island was real and what really happened to them.

I know I am in the minority but I loved it!

I just thought it was a bit of a fizzle out, I understood what they were saying but it seemed really disappointing to me.

Seriously Ripeberry- they were in purgatory? So they died in the crash? Gave up at the end of season 2.

No, all the island stuff was real including them getting off at the end. They all lived out the rest of their lives (which we didn't see) and when they died, however that was, they went to the purgatory of the alternative timeline where they waited until they were all dead so that they could move on together.

The reason they all had to wait in purgatory was because they were so linked together by their time on the island.

I have to agree that it was a let down and there were way too many unresolved issues but it definitely wasn't a cop out ending where they just explained the whole 5 years as being purgatory.

HTH Smile

I loved it until I realised they were dead in the other time line. I wanted that to be real too and was disappointed.

Glad I gave up at the start of S4. What a load of old tosh.

It sounds very confusing and disappointing! Glad I gave up too.

I still loved the series though and am glad I watched it. Plan to get the set and start again when it comes down in price as I have not found a replacement.

DH and I finally crawled to the end episode a couple of weeks ago. Had no bloddy clue what the hell was going on at any point after season 2 I think. There's a fair few hours of life we're never going to get back!

I loved it - and am glad I stuck with it.. there is a great thing on YouTube though with the unanswered questions... let me see if I can find it...

The only moan I've got is WHY oh WHY did both Jin and Sun both die - what about their DD.. I know the whole thing was pretty daft but that was the one point when I thought WTF!!

I also loved it. I cried so hard when Claire gave birth (in about 10 mns Hmm) and her and Charlie recognised each other.

My only disappointment was that Kate and Jack ended up as 'soulmates'.

Loved Ben and Hurley as the new guardians of the island.

skillbo - Jin and Sun didn't die at the same time but they both died eventually. The alternate reality wasn't in real time, all we know is that when they died they were reunited.

Sun may have lived to old age while Jin waited for her in purgatory, so don't worry about the child Smile

Well no Jin and Sun both died in the sub on the island.
The island was real, the AL was the purgatory.

So sadly, they did leave their orphan girl behind.

Oh yes, anonacfr, you're right I've got that wrong, I haven't had a chance to rewatch since it was originally shown and I thought Sun escaped from the flooded sub.

the lost finale was crap, a really big disappointment. when it first started, everyone said, bet they're all dead and in purgatory. the writers said, nooooo, that would be to obvious etc etc. and guess what, it ends with them all dead and in purgatory. what a lame waste.

But they weren't dead and in purgatory on the island. That was real.

chocolatestar - don't you think that the problem that non Losties have is that if you didn't watch every episode its difficult to understand the subtleties of season 6.

I love Lost but was very dissapointed that so many loose ends where left untied. Mainly the issues surrounding the numbers, the lighthouse etc.

I'm looking forward to a chance to rewatch the final series in case I missed something on the first viewing.

Yes there were still a lot of unanswered questions. I loved it up until the last thirty seconds. I could live with it but thought they would bring it together in a more complicated way than that. I really wanted the stuff in the alternative time line to be real.

Doubt anyone could keep up if they hadn't watched it all. Could hardly keep up even though I had watched them all!

Chocolate star, can I recommend both Battlestar Galactica (the remake with Eduard Olmos) and Alias (with Jennifer Garner)? Both far superior, IMO. Battlestar is one of the best series I have ever watched. (I used to work in TV and so am very picky ;) ). It's not pure sci-fi, it's about people, politics, relationships, etc. Utterly amazing.

Alias is also JJ Abrams and if you listen carefully there's an episode where they play Lost's Charlie's song!! It is quite repetitive but enjoyable in S1, then at the end it suddenly catapults into another dimension and becomes brilliant. And neither series leaves you with the bad taste in your mouth which Lost gave in droves.
