WTF was that all about?

BerryLellow Sat 20-Nov-10 16:20:23

The worst anti climax ever!

ItalianLady Sat 20-Nov-10 20:16:49

Didn't make any sense.

Ripeberry Sun 21-Nov-10 16:59:00

They were in purgatory all this time and now in the church waiting to go to Heaven or Hell.

braveandcrazy Sun 21-Nov-10 17:16:28

They were only in purgatory in the last series in the alternative timeline, the island was real and what really happened to them.

I know I am in the minority but I loved it!

BerryLellow Sun 21-Nov-10 18:21:41

I just thought it was a bit of a fizzle out, I understood what they were saying but it seemed really disappointing to me.

FairyArmadillo Sun 21-Nov-10 21:56:36

Seriously Ripeberry- they were in purgatory? So they died in the crash? Gave up at the end of season 2.

samcrow Sun 21-Nov-10 22:26:05

No, all the island stuff was real including them getting off at the end. They all lived out the rest of their lives (which we didn't see) and when they died, however that was, they went to the purgatory of the alternative timeline where they waited until they were all dead so that they could move on together.

The reason they all had to wait in purgatory was because they were so linked together by their time on the island.

I have to agree that it was a let down and there were way too many unresolved issues but it definitely wasn't a cop out ending where they just explained the whole 5 years as being purgatory.

HTH smile

chocolatestar Sun 21-Nov-10 23:31:03

I loved it until I realised they were dead in the other time line. I wanted that to be real too and was disappointed.

SpeedyGonzalez Sun 21-Nov-10 23:34:43

Glad I gave up at the start of S4. What a load of old tosh.

FairyArmadillo Sun 21-Nov-10 23:39:26

It sounds very confusing and disappointing! Glad I gave up too.

midlandsmumof4 Sun 21-Nov-10 23:52:18

Yep. I gaveup too. Lost track when it started to get REALLY weired. grin.

chocolatestar Mon 22-Nov-10 08:20:29

I still loved the series though and am glad I watched it. Plan to get the set and start again when it comes down in price as I have not found a replacement.

clam Mon 22-Nov-10 08:22:28

DH and I finally crawled to the end episode a couple of weeks ago. Had no bloddy clue what the hell was going on at any point after season 2 I think. There's a fair few hours of life we're never going to get back!

Skillbo Mon 22-Nov-10 15:35:46

I loved it - and am glad I stuck with it.. there is a great thing on YouTube though with the unanswered questions... let me see if I can find it... =player_embedded

The only moan I've got is WHY oh WHY did both Jin and Sun both die - what about their DD.. I know the whole thing was pretty daft but that was the one point when I thought WTF!!

anonacfr Mon 22-Nov-10 16:01:11

I also loved it. I cried so hard when Claire gave birth (in about 10 mns hmm) and her and Charlie recognised each other.

My only disappointment was that Kate and Jack ended up as 'soulmates'.

Loved Ben and Hurley as the new guardians of the island.

samcrow Mon 22-Nov-10 17:03:45

skillbo - Jin and Sun didn't die at the same time but they both died eventually. The alternate reality wasn't in real time, all we know is that when they died they were reunited.

Sun may have lived to old age while Jin waited for her in purgatory, so don't worry about the child smile

anonacfr Mon 22-Nov-10 17:05:40

Well no Jin and Sun both died in the sub on the island.
The island was real, the AL was the purgatory.

anonacfr Mon 22-Nov-10 17:06:26

Well no Jin and Sun both died in the sub on the island.
The island was real, the AL was the purgatory.

So sadly, they did leave their orphan girl behind.

samcrow Mon 22-Nov-10 17:14:53

Oh yes, anonacfr, you're right I've got that wrong, I haven't had a chance to rewatch since it was originally shown and I thought Sun escaped from the flooded sub.

lucykate Mon 22-Nov-10 17:18:33

the lost finale was crap, a really big disappointment. when it first started, everyone said, bet they're all dead and in purgatory. the writers said, nooooo, that would be to obvious etc etc. and guess what, it ends with them all dead and in purgatory. what a lame waste.

ItalianLady Mon 22-Nov-10 17:21:57

I am still confused grin.

chocolatestar Mon 22-Nov-10 18:19:32

But they weren't dead and in purgatory on the island. That was real.

samcrow Mon 22-Nov-10 18:25:48

chocolatestar - don't you think that the problem that non Losties have is that if you didn't watch every episode its difficult to understand the subtleties of season 6.

I love Lost but was very dissapointed that so many loose ends where left untied. Mainly the issues surrounding the numbers, the lighthouse etc.

I'm looking forward to a chance to rewatch the final series in case I missed something on the first viewing.

chocolatestar Mon 22-Nov-10 18:28:25

Yes there were still a lot of unanswered questions. I loved it up until the last thirty seconds. I could live with it but thought they would bring it together in a more complicated way than that. I really wanted the stuff in the alternative time line to be real.

Doubt anyone could keep up if they hadn't watched it all. Could hardly keep up even though I had watched them all!
