I LOVE Kirstie but...

I would love to have a beautiful house full of old, vintage trinkets etc but I can't afford it so I have a house of flat pack.

I'm going to watch it on C4+1 because of the Masterchef final on two. I pretty much only watch it to a) nick ideas and b) to say "How much!" everytime she picks up one of her 'bargains' Grin

I did hear her on Woman's Hour last week though and she came over very well.

I'd love to do this stained glass thing.

Its a beautiful house, maybe if I could afford a house like that I could afford to make my own stained glass window...

I wish Kirstie would do some cheaper things so her ideas were more accessible.

she is the nigella of house things....smug but lovely!

Merrylegs · 02/11/2010 20:19

Hmm. It's no fun when it's not her own house. Last year's conceit worked better I feel. This is a bit too random. She is still stunning though, but don't think even Kirstie's fragrant loveliness will make this watchable.

Swedish linen = Ikea fabric?

I wondered that too BOF

I have the know how to make my own curtains but by the time I have bought a sewing machine capable of going through curtain fabric, all the other haberdashery bits and pieces and the fabric and the lining fabric etc etc it is cheaper to buy ready made curtains.

Yes, it has less soul, but its cheaper.

Sorry to bang on about it but its just so annoying to make it sound like if we follow her tips we'll save money instead of, god forbid, buying something from an 'out of town shop'.

Report
SummerHeightsHigh · 02/11/2010 20:31

I doubt they are a tenth of the price of mine!

Report

I'm scared of sewing machines, they seem to take on a life of their own as soon as my foot touches the pedal!! Shop bought all the way for me therefore.

Oh God it's like Kirsty-meets-Cash-in-the-Attic-and-Bargain-Hunt!! The banter with and between the "punters" is excruciating!!

Fantastic house though. They've done well having Kirsty come and work her "magic" (or should I reserve judgement until she's finished?)

Craig - "It's actually making me quite speechless"... I wish.

I've done stain glass before and watching tonight makes me want to again, but I live in a souless box, and think it make look out of place. Sad

Looks very nice but they must have had some lovely "pieces" and curios to begin with. I wonder what they do for a living - Gemma definitely has an eye for it. Oh and it's Sean not Craig - sorry for that but am not forgiving him for that shirtless v-neck jumper combo.
